Layla Cortdale

"How are you feeling?" Kingsley asked

"Good, exhausted, and a bit horny." I told him while mixing the salad and the croutons

Currently, Kingsley and I were in the kitchen, helping mom put finishing touches on dinner. Xavier, dad, Danny, alpha Theodore and his beta, Chris left to discuss some things in dad's office.

He started to chuckle

"That's gross" he jokingly said while scrunching up his nose

I shrugged my shoulders while popping a crouton in my mouth

"Hey, I'm marked and in love"

"Being horny doesn't mean you're in love" he said

"No, but being horny for the person you love is natural"

"So, does this mean you guys will mate soon?" He smirked

"I'm not sure. Honestly, I want to mate with him before my heat starts. I want him to mate with me cause he wants to, not because his wolf is driving him crazy." I sighed

Going into heat isn't something I'm looking forward to. It starts when I turn eighteen... which is in two days. I'm going to be horny for at least a week. Great.

"Anyways, why is alpha Theodore here?" I asked

"I'm not sure. I came here to get my stuff, but your mom insisted I stay for dinner. She has something up her sleeves."

"King, it's my mom. She always has something up her sleeves"

"True"

We both started to laugh out loud, but stopped when we heard subtle footsteps coming towards us. Our laughter died down and we got back to work. I put the salad aside and took the lasagna out of the oven.

"Layla, bring the salad. Kingsley, would you be a dear and bring the lasagna?" Mom asked

"Of course" he replied

We both complied with mom's request. Once we set the food down on the table, I look around and saw little cards with each of our names on it

"Mom, what is this?" I asked her, holding up a card

"What does it look like? It's a seating card"

"I know what it is" I said giving her a pointed look "why do we need it?"

"Oh you'll find out soon enough" she grinned

Both Kingsley and I let out a nervous chuckle

Oh great

After awhile, I heard some muffled voices and the sound of heavy feet.

I turned around and saw dad, Xavier, alpha Theodore and Chris stepping into the dining room. Dad, Theodore and Chris were all laughing at something Theodore said, but Xavier had an annoyed expression all over his face.

'What's the matter, babe' I mind linked

His eyes snapped to mine, he gave me a cheeky grin and walked over to me.

'Nothing baby' he said while kissing my cheek

I snapped out of my daze when I heard the front door close. I saw Danny walk into the dining room. I felt a growl vibrate through Xavier's chest and his hand on my waist tightened. I looked over at Kingsley who was looking just as shocked as I was.

"Well, don't just stand there. Sit down"

Mom motioned all of us to sit. I sat down at the seat that had my place card, Xavier sat down next to me.
