Chapter 17

Layla Cortdale

"Hi love" he said lovingly while staring up at me

"Xavier?!" I confusedly said

He started to climb up a tree by my balcony, he made it looked so easy, they way his muscles flexed when he smoothly glided on every branch.

'We have a hot mate' My wolf howled

'Amen to that' I muttered

He must be the one that left the flowers on the steps, how sweet of him.

'Our mate is perfect' my wolf smugly said

'Yes, he is' I said dreamingly

As I stood there having an internal conversation with my wolf, I felt a slight movement that seem to distract me from my thoughts. As soon as I felt a warm lips touched mine I was lost to the feel, the sensation, the electricity that shot through my body as his lips laid upon mine. I can still remember the light pressure of those wonderful lips and the smell of his skin as his hand grazes my cheek. I just stood there in shock as his lips left mine.

"Wow" I breathed out

"I have been waiting so long to kiss you" he said while cupping my cheeks and looking deeply into my eyes

I chuckled," it's only been a day"

"It felt like forever, it missed you so much, its been stressful"

"Come, let's go inside and lie down"

He nodded his head, I grabbed his hand and started to pull him into my room, but Xavier had other ideas. He stopped walking and picked me up from the ground and carried me bridal style, I started to blush, I nestled my head in his neck and inhaled deeply.

"Mine" I sighed, feeling content

I heard Xavier chuckle,"forever yours"

I moved my head away from his neck and looked into his bright blue eyes. The room was dim, it made his eyes look like they were glowing. The only light was coming from the beautiful moon that was shining into the room. I leaned in and quickly pecked his lips.

"I love you" I said

"I love you too, baby"

I felt the plush bed underneath me, I started to get nervous when Xavier was hovering over me while peppering butterfly kisses on my neck.

'MATE HIM' my wolf yelled at me

'No, I'm not ready'

I snapped out of my thoughts when I felt Xavier's sharp teeth graze on my neck and his little friend pressing against my inner thigh, I gently pushed him away, but he didn't move an inch.

"Xavier" I softly said

"Layla" he huskily said

"I need to tell you something" I groaned

He looked up and I saw his eyes are pitch black, his wolf wants to take control. I ran my thumb over his cheek.

"It's important" I gently said

He closed his eyes and got off me, he rested his head against the headboard. I sat up and looked at him, he started to heavily breathe, he extended his arm and grabbed my hand and sat me on his lap and burrowed his head into the crook of my neck and inhaled deeply.

"I'm trying my best to keep my wolf in control, but its so hard. It drives me insane when my mate is unclaimed and open to all unmated werewolves, it makes me so mad" he said while tightening his grip on me

"Xavier" I sighed "I'm yours, no guy will ever get my attention except you" I said assuring him

"I know, but my wolf won't rest until your claimed and mated to us" he said sighing

"I know, but I just need a little bit more time" I quietly said

"I'll wait until your ready, but what is it that you have to tell me?"

"Well, I told my mom and dad about us" I happily said

"You did?" He said sounding surprised

"Yes, they were happy and my mom wants to meet you soon. Im glad I told them, now I don't have to hide you from my parents" I beamed

He nodded his head and smiled," I'm happy too, is there more you have to tell me?"

I started to debate wether or not to tell him about Kyle, if I do then he'll become more possessive and his urge to claim and mate me will heighten, I'm not sure if I want that.

'Tell him about Kyle' my wolf urged

'I don't know, he'll get even more possessive and protective over us'

'So?'

'So, I want to be able to protect myself, I don't want Xavier to protect me all the time'

'Your so stubborn'

I internally rolled my eyes and cut my connection with her

"Layla?"

"Huh?"

"What are you hiding from me?" Xavier asked suspiciously

"Nothing" I quickly said

"Layla, I know your lying to me"

"Well-" I was cut off from my sentence when there was a loud shatter from downstairs

I quickly hopped off of Xavier's lap and ran downstairs, I walked into the living room and saw the main window, shattered, there was broken glass everywhere. I tried walking around it, but Xavier grabbed my arm and stopped me

"It's dangerous here, go upstairs" he said sternly

"No" I said, pulling out of his grip

"Layla"

I ignored Xavier and looked for the object that left the fragments of glass, my eyes landed on a grey ridged rock the size of a baseball. I picked it up and it had a note attached to it, I opened the note and my heart stopped

'I'm coming for you soon'

I instantly knew who it was. Kyle. My whole body froze, my heart started to beat faster, I started to become dizzy, sweat was trickling down on my skin, and my breathing was abnormal, why couldn't this guy leave all of us alone?

"Layla?"

"Sweetheart?"

"Baby, please answer me"

I heard Xavier trying to reach out to me but I couldn't say anything, I was in a traumatic state.

"He's coming for me" I whispered before sinking into the darkness
