Short Story #4

*Aaron's p.o.v.*

I started stirring. I heard someone talking. I opened my eyes. It was Aphmau. She was holding our 2 week old baby , Alina.

'Morning baby ,' Aph said to her. I smiled.

Alina looked at me with her wide dark hazel eyes and laughed. Aph turned around and looked at me. Her hazel eyes a ligther shade than Alina's.

She smiled. She got in bed with Alina. 'Morning sweetheart ,' I said tired.

'Morning sweetie. Alina wants to say hi ,' She said. Alina laughed. Aph set her on my chest.

'Morning Alina ,' I said holding her hand. She laughed. She scrunched her face. We laughed.

'What face is that ?' Aph asked laughing. I chuckled. The morning with my family. My wife and my daugther. Everything is perfect.

'Do your squishy face for daddy ,' I said. She scrunched up her face again. We laughed.

'You little rascal ,' Aph said. She tickled her belly. She laughed.

'I'm lucky she has your eyes ,' I said.

'I think it's a fait split ,' Aph said.

Alina started hitting me. Playfully. 'Alright missy. Stop hitting daddy ,' Aph carried her off me.

'It's fine babe ,' I said.

'Give daddy a kiss ,' Aph said. She put Alina close to my cheek. She placed her lips against it.

'Good girl ,' Aph said.

I kissed Alina on the cheek. She laughed.

In a split , she started whining. 'Looks like someone's hungry ,' Aph said.

She got her nursing cover and started to feed Alina.

My phone rang. It was P.D.P.D . Phoenix Drop Police Department . 'Detective Lycan ?'

'Detective Lycan. Sorry to call you on your break but we need people. There's been a murder here and the victim has your father's mark on it ,' he said.

I froze. My dad is supposed to be in jail for life. He got arrested since I was 18. He lead a gang and killed people who got in their way. When I reported it , he kidnapped Aph who was my girlfriend back then, now my wife , and thteathened to kill her. Luckily , her dad and divisyen was there in time to save her.

Aph saw the look on my face. 'What's wrong ?' She asked.

He told me the adress and I ended the call. 'It's just a murder case. Don't worry sweetheart ,' I said.
She looked at me confused. 'The department needs people. So they called me in ,' I said.

'I'm not confused about that. I'm confused about the case. Your face froze when he told you something ,' she said. I sighed.

'The victim had my father's mark on it ,' I said. She looked at me wide eye.

'I thought he was in jail ,' she said.

'I thought so too. But we can't assume. I'm going there to see if it's actually his mark or if it's a copycat ,' I said.

'Let's hope it's a copycat ,' she said. I nodded.

Alina was done feeding. Aph burped her. 'I better get dressed ,' I said.

'I'll go make breakfast ,' Aph said.

'Thanks babe ,' I said. She smiled and nodded. She took Alina with her.

I love them so much. I went and took a shower.
