Short Story #13 (pt.1)

*Aphmau's p.o.v *

'Princess Irene. The guards are ready ,' Melody reported.

I nodded. I stepped outside. They were all lined up. Dressed in full armour.

'Princess Irene ,' they bowed down. I nodded. They rised.

'You are expected to fight with me in battle. And together , we can defeat the Shadow Knights. '

They all cheered before I could finish.

'But ,' I continued. They stopped immediately. They looked at me.
'None of you will join me in battle. Each one of you will be assigned to take care of our people .'

'What ? '

'Impossible .'

'Princess Irene. We have to follow you to battle .' She said.

'Enough. ' I ordered. 'My word's final. I will be entering the nether alone. I will not be risking any of my people's lives .'

'Princess. It's our responsibility to ensure you're safe .' Someone said.

'It is also your responsibility to protect your families . '

'I've witnessed children growing out without their parents. For our future generation , that will not happen. '

'But who will take over your position ?'

'That issue will be resolved. There is nothing to be worried about .'

I turned around and went back into the palace. I went into the dungeon.

'Aphmau !' I heard footsteps running behind me. I turned around and saw the gang heading my way.

'Please don't do this !' Shelby was in tears.

'We can't lose you !' Ross cried.

'You're our best friend !' This was the first time I've seen Katelyn cry.

'Please. Just think about what you're doing ,' Lucinda begged.

'Who's gonna take care of us now ?!' Sky was devastated.

'This is my only choice. I'm not risking any of your lives .'

'Please !' They begged.

I refused to cry. 'Be strong for me. Please ,' I pleaded.

'Can we at least hug ?' Krista asked.

'Of course ,' I hugged all of them. I hugged Katelyn the last.

'Katelyn. Can I trust you with something ? If I don't ..' she nodded.

*Timeskip*

I approached the battlefield. Magma Death.

His army stood there. All in armour made of magma. Prepared with death balls and potions.

'Welcome Princess Elena. How'd you like the nether ?' Damien asked.

'I'd probably make some modifications. Make it not so terrorising .' I saw Aaron and Zara. He was wearing his prince uniform instead of armour.

'Are your minions too afraid to come ?' Zara taunted.

'Zara. My guards are not you. I have no need to lure them out .' She turned red instantly.

'Whatever. Before I behead you. You can watch Aaron and I get married. 'She said as she held his hand. He smirked.

I felt my heart crumble into pieces. 'I have to admit Princess. You're extremely brave to come here alone ,' Aaron said. 'And I'm pretty sure all of us here know why you're here alone .'
