Short Story #8

Aphmau and Aaron have been best friends since 11. They're 18 now. Aaron is the school's jock and Aphmau is the school's nerd. Aphmau has been helping Aaron with his work.

*Aaron's p.o.v.*

So today I was going to break it off with Lily.

I was so confused about my feelings for Aph that I just jumped into a relationship with Lily.

Lily is just like every other girl. Clingy , wants attention , makeup obsessed and sorry to say but spoiled. Aph is very unique.

She's kind , friendly , smart , beautiful , funny , quirky , a huge dork and just straight up really fun to hang out with.

Anyways , I can't keep talking about her if not we'll be here for a week.

I saw Lily. By my locker doing her makeup. She saw me and smiled.

I like her but it doesn't feel right. It doesn't feel honest.

I thought for the longest time that Aph and I had a brother sister kinda relationship but it's more than that. It's not just us being comfortable around each other , it's us being comfortable despite our differences.

'Hi baby ,' she said.

'Hi Lily ,' she kissed me. I pulled away. She frowned.

'Baby. What's wrong ?' She asked.

'Lily. We need to talk ,' I said scratching the back of my head.

'Talk about what ?' She asked.

'Lily. I don't think this relationship is working out between us ,' I said. Her jaw dropped.

She slapped me. 'I'm the best you will ever get ! You are not allowed to dump me !' She yelled.

'Lily. It's honestly not working out for us ,' I said.

'I dump you ! Not the other way around !' She yelled. 'Who is she ! Is it that whore of a nerd !' I gasped.

'Don't call Aph that ,' I growled.

'You like her don't you !' She yelled.

'I didn't say I did ,' I replied I didn't want to tell her how I felt about Aph.

'It's her that's ruining our relationship ! She's always flirting and laughing with you ! She spends time with you ! She's stealing you away from me !' She yelled. Everybody was staring now.

'Unlike you. I can go to her for advice. Unlike you . She cares for me. Unlike you. She has a heart. She doesn't go around making people feel as if they're not worth the person they are ,' I said.

'I'm the Queen Bee ! She's the school nerd ! What do you see in her !'

'I see someone who I'm comfortable with. I see someone who I can make jokes with. I see someone who deeply cares for me. And I care for her ,' I said.
'Fine you bastard ! Have it your way ! Just know that you'll be goddamn sorry !' She slapped me and walked away.

I was left there rubbing my aching cheek.

*Aphmau's p.o.v*

So I was walking to my locker when I see Lily slapping Aaron.

I was appalled. I mean how does he look so goddamn calm.

I have to admit I developed a crush on him eversince 9th grade. I mean his messy jet black hair , his gorgeous dark midnight eyes....

I'm getting off track ! I went over to him.

'What happened ?' I asked. I adjusted my glasses. I was a little blind without them.
