Chapter 2

Zy wakes up, with his knee soaked in blood again. He opens his mouth to call for Rolan, and then closes it again. Zy swings his legs off the bed, his bare feet touch the splintery floor. Where are my-
He pauses. Morins... *Morin: A type of very breathable shoe, that the wearer can barley feel that they are wearing. Protects form small rocks, wood, and small bits of medal.*
Zy takes off his overcoat, and wraps it carefully around each foot, tying the short sleeves together, making a mess of his mobility. Zy stands up, and takes small leaps forward. He does this as quietly as possible, to not wake up Rolan...if he is even here.
Zy makes it to the front door, he presses on, to keep himself from falling. Zy, in his 12 year old self, takes small baby steps toward Rolan's box room door. He open the door just a small line to see if Rolan was there....he wasn't. Zy pushes the door open all the way and reaches for Rolan's bed cover. Made out of Zolpin wool. He grabs the edge of it and pulls a chunk off. He then hobbles back to bed in the overcoat slippers, and sits down on the edge. He removes his overcoat from his feet, and puts it back on again.

The overcoat has wood splits all over it, Zy slowly removes them one by one, until he can't see anymore or them. Then he replaces his bandage, and instead of cutting it with a knife like Rolan did, Zy just pulls it apart with with his thumb and index finger. Then he put the new bandage on.

Zy holds onto the tree, ass the Rant smashes its spiny body into the tree. Zy takes his rope belt off, ties it to a branch that he is holding onto. He makes a noose looking knot, but instead of putting his head through it, he puts his hand on it. He rips his hand Downward, tightening the noose around his hand. The Rant slams its body into the tree again, breaking of a few of its horn.

Zy jumps. The very short belt doesn't do much for him but it is enough to swing him to onto his Zoomer. *Zoomer: a very cheaply made hovercraft.* he lands on its handlebars, he winces, then swings his legs over and into the very small seat. Zy's pants sag, a little...no belt. He pushes the ignite button, and the Zoomer spouts to life. He moves the gear, to H. (High) Zy whips the handlebars left, and then floors it. The Rant has finally noticed this, and begins to charge him.

He slowly rips his knee back, blood squirts all over down his leg. He looks around for the Rant. He sees it. The Rant slowly walks over the hill, disappearing, a huge gash in its back...shaped like the front of the Zoomer.

Zy falls to the ground, he clutches his knee, and more blood squirts out. And there he lay. Left to die...

When Zy wakes up again, he is in a small wood building on a bed. Some guy tending to his injury. Zy's eyes fully flutter open, panicked. The guy smiles at him. "You're awake!" He says sounding relieved. Zy says nothing. "I'm Rolan." He says.

That was 17 days ago. Since then Zy had gotten pretty familiar with Rolan. And Rolan the same with Zy. Whenever Zy had asked what happened to his Zoomer, Rolan always said that he was fixing it up in the cellar. That's when he told Zy never to go back there. And never to look inside.

After a few hours, Rolan came back. He pushes the door open, bag beneath his eyes. He seems...larger than normal. "Where were you?" Zy asks him. Rolan takes a few more steps, like he didn't hear Zy. " At-" Rolan is clearly drunk- Which Zy hadn't seen Rolan like before. " da clurb" Rolan says, with a heave. Rolan adjusts himself. "How? You don't have any Units." Zy says dryly. Rolan turn to him. "I-buh- got more Z--Units they you could-(a heave) imagine." Rolan says, struggling with each word. "Then where are they?"
"None of Yoor work-concern."

Zy leaves the conversation, and Rolan stumbles back to his room.
