The Universe Ends With You

Chapter 13

Zy opens his eyes. He is a metal room, on a plushy white mattress. A door is located just across the room from him, suddenly, but slowly swings open. A woman dressed in a white lab coat- and large goggles resting on her head. She instantly looks at Zy- and Zy looks back. She walks up to him. "Are you okay?" She ask. That's when Zy realizes that there is Cotten in his mouth. Zy furrows his eyebrows, and nods in response to her question. "We found you in the middle of the desert." She pauses."And we picked you up- and restored you back to health." She finished. Zy tries to speak. "Air murr me?" His language is muffled by the cotton. What he DID say was, Where are we?  The woman in the lab coat- thinks about what he said- trying to figure out what he said. And after a moment she figured it out. "We are on the Howel II." She says. "It's a ship...you know...in space." She shoves the glasses, back on the bridge of her nose- that Zy hadn't even noticed she was wearing. "Well... are you honing to be okay? Because I have to get back to the ER." She asks Zy.
Zy nods and then she smiles and walks out of the door, again, and quietly close the door.

Zy remains silent, before he sits up. He thinks about spitting the cotton out, but decides against it.

Zy sits and waits for a few more minutes before someone else comes in. It's a type of humanoid species that Zy had never seen before. They looked almost exactly like a human- but their skin was very bright pink. Small tentacles come out of its face like whiskers on a cat. The whiskers have small orange circles coming off of the end of them.

The...thing... walks over to Zy, and doesn't say anything. The...thing...extends its arm in front of Zy's mouth, and just sits there. Zy flips his eyes to its hand and its...face. After a minute the creature flips its fingers, in the "come here" gesture. Another moment passes- and Zy spits the cotton out of his mouth, onto its hand. It closes its hand and then walks out of room again. Zy flops his head back down on the mattress, and closes his eyes.

The pink alien thing, that had come and taken Zy's cotton from his mouth- is known as a Himley.
Himley's are a very basic species- that doesn't speak any language. The Himley use telepathic signals sent through there- as Zy had described them- whiskers with orange circles on the end. Those "Whiskers" are known an Heels. They are what send signals- that only other Himley's can understand.  Well this Himley that had come to Zy, name was, Malus. Malus was a "Doctor in training" even though Malus was more like a "Mute Assistant in training."  Malus helped the doctors with patients, even though she-yes, Malus is a she- couldn't speak to other species.

Malus took the cotton, to the lab- where it was tested for different bacteria that could be caused by diseases. It came back with a few bacteria specimens but- none of them were life-threatening diseases. But yes- it came back with a  few diseases traced back.The Doctor tells Malus that they will not be telling Zy of any issues. And...they don't. Malus becomes Zy's care taker, for the time that Zy is in this hospital.  Malus gives Zy water- food and other things.

Everytime Malus goes to check on Zy- Zy always asks questions.

"Where are we?"
"Why am I here?"

Multiple times Zy tries to leave- but Malus somehow gets him to lay back down.  Over the  3 weeks that Zy is at that hospital, Malus and the Doctor work on developing a cure. A cure, for Zy. A cure, not for the diseases, that Zy had somehow obtained. But for his brain. A cure for Zy, for Zy.

Malus walks into Zy's room- the small green bottle in her hand. Zy looks way worse they he did when he came here. His skin is very pale- almost gray. His eyes- sunken back. His hair droops heavily- as of it is soaked with water. It isn't. Malus walks up to Zy and extends her hand with the green bottle to Zy. After a moment of staring at Zy- Zy staring at her- Zy takes the bottle. He removes the small cap from the bottle. They green liquid sprays visible fumes in Zy's face. Zy doesn't seem to even realize what just happened.

Zy started at the bottle for a while before slowly moving his gaze over to Malus. Malus blinks, and Zy throws the bottle, directly at Malus. The green liquid douses her eyes and face, and runs down her arm. Malus flips her arms up to her face, and wipes her face quickly. Her eyes burn so harshly that she can't open them- Malus flings her body against something on accident- and then Zy attack her. Clawing at her already closes eyes- rupping her whiskers out of her face- her yellow-pink blood effuses from where the whiskers were. Zy then forces the whiskers into Malus' face- lathering her face-further in blood. Zy they proceeds to slam his elbow down on her face. More blood oozes out. Malus tries to fight back but can't. Even though Zy is in this very feeble state, he still has some strength...at least more than Malus.
Malus is blind now. She can talk (telepathy) anymore. She can't see. All she can do is hear and feel. But Zy doesn't keep her like that for much longer. Zy keeps hitting Malus, until she dies.

Zy stands up from Malus' body. His legs shake- from his weakness. Whatever they have been doing to him, has made him weaker, day by day.

Zy steps out of the door on his room. Slamming it behind him as he slowly walks...away.

The Doctor had given Malus water for Zy, that has a small amount of axionment in it. This is a chemical that causes the body, to basically kill itself. Or...if you prefer...no...I won't say.
