"Hey, Simba!" Nala greeted happily as her mate entered the dark den.
"Hello there, " Simba replied, turning his path to her instead.
"What are you doing here? I thought you were going to help the buffalos." She asked.
"I was, but it turns out they would rather me come here and get some rest. Everyone is insisting that I come rest at the den." Simba shrugged.
"Well, sweetheart," Nala said, lifting to her feet and heading over to him. She planted a kiss on his forehead. "You have been working extra hard recently."
"I have to get the Pridelands back to normal, I can't leave it in its dilapidated state!" He exclaimed.
"Honey, everyone understands if you need to rest for a little while. If you don't slow down and take a break, then you won't be able to fix the land. Just lay here for a spell, I'll come wake you for dinner." She said, patting a nice spot for him to lay.
"Alright. I give." Simba chuckled, lying down where she pointed. He collapsed to the rock floor and streched his weary muscles, relaxing his eyes and ears to rest.
"Sleep tight, love," Nala whispered, kissing his cheek and leaving the den.

"Simba," she said gently, nudging him with her snout to awake him from his rest.
He moaned quietly, turning over to his other side. Slowly, he let his orange-brown eyes flutter open. His eyes landed on his wife and he smiled softly.
"Nala," he said. "You look amazing."
Nala blushed slightly and kissed his cheek. She made a mental note to thank her friend Kula for the final touch of placing a pink flower behind Nala's ear.
"Now go ahead and get up," Nala urged. "I have a surprise for you."
Simba stood to his feet, smiling at his mate's beauty. He shook out his great ruby red mane and opened his jaws in a yawn.
"Are you hungry?" Nala asked as she strolled beside Simba, the two of them walking down Priderock and towards the baobab grove.
"Yes, I'm starving." Simba replied, looking into her eyes. "Why?"
"Because we're going to eat, silly," she replied, stepping forward and leading him to the center of the grove.
Simba stopped short as his eyes fell upon the meal spread out in front of him. The middle of the grove had less of a canopy, so one could see the stars above. Nala had laid out the food in a wonderful way that was truly pleasing to the eyes. And the two could romantically dine under the stars, with the sweet smell of the Kupatana blossoms surrounding them.
"Whoa," Simba breathed, his eyes growing wide.
Nala took a seat in the center of the food, and motioned for Simba to follow.
The king and queen sat under the majestic sight and dined elegantly as they enjoyed each others company as mate's for life.
Once the two of them had finished their meal and were laying under the moonlight to star gaze, Simba turned to Nala and asked, "Why did you set this up tonight?"
"Why? Did you not enjoy it?" She asked.
"On the contrary! It was amazing! Best meal I've had since my cub days!" Simba replied, smiling.
"Well, that's why. I knew you hadn't eaten a nice meal since returning. And you've been working so hard lately, it like you never enjoy yourself anymore." Nala said. "And, there's one other reason."
"What?" Simba asked, shutting his eyes to rest after his full meal.
Nala snuggled into his chest and smiled bright and wide. She felt his arms wrap around her and she decided it was time to tell him.
"The other reason is that I knew such a wonderful announcement needed a fine moment to celebrate it." Nala explained.
"What is this special announcement?" He asked gently, drifting off to sleep.
"You're going to be a father." Nala said softly.
