I just went on holiday for a week so I apologise for not updating in awhile. This is a short OS I had and yes it's probably just like every other OS I have written whoops.

What did you guys want to see more of in this book? I can do more off-season OS or throwbacks, AUs, just let me know!

James•

Riley walks into the bedroom with messy hair and tired eyes. I smile at her and she returns one weakly.

I reach for the TV remote, to turn it off, as Riley flops down next to me in the bed and wraps an arm around my torso, resting against my side.

She shakes her head, "Keep watching, it's fine,"

I ignore her and turn the TV off anyways which causes Riley to frown, upset that she knew that I had to stop my binge watch on Netflix.

"James," She mumbles, hitting my chest, "You never listen to me don't you?"

I turn on my side gently, which makes her get off me and onto the pillow. She mumbles again, her eyes are still closed, tired from her assessments in business school.

"Well I'm listening now," I whisper, kissing her cheek, hoping she opens her eyes so we can talk.

"I'm tired, James,"

"I know but can we talk... You know, like, how we used to?" I hesitate.

She opens her soft eyes and stares into mine, "James..." Riley says softly, reaching up and touching my cheek.

I turn my head towards her hand and kiss it. Riley smiles and rests her hand on my chest.

"The nights where we would talk about anything for hours and hope our parents don't open the door to find out that one of us snuck in at midnight?" She asks, moving closer to me.

I nod and smile as Riley presses her lips against mine in a quick but sweet gesture. She snuggles against my side, resting her head just beside my ear.

"We've been through so much," She tells me, titling her head to look at me, "but here we are,"

"That's something incredible isn't it?" I say

"Maybe..."

I shift my head on the pillow to look at her, she stares at me for awhile and then smiles.

"...But I call it love," Riley finishes, shifting her gaze away from me. She draws circles on my chest and I look up at the ceiling.

There's a comfortable silence as we listen to each other's breathing. When we were younger, I would long for this to last forever because I knew I had to be gone before the morning or else her parents and mine would find out.

Something that I've always wanted was to wake up with her beside me every morning because I never could stay with her before.

This journey that we've had together has been incredible and something tells me it's not far from over.

My eyes droop heavily and I turn my head, resting it on top of hers, "Why do you love me?" I ask

"I love you because," Riley leans up to whisper in my ear softly, "when I'm with you every single day, I can't help but feel amazed by how much love is in your heart. And... with everything comes with decisions I guess. Choosing to be studio head, applying for business school... Majority of my decisions haven't been set in stone but I know one thing for sure, I know one thing that I know is certain. I know that... I love you, James."

Riley's breath tickles my ear as she places a lingering kiss on my cheek. I close my eyes and hold her in the darkness.

"We'll be okay," I whisper, "We'll always be okay," I stroke her hair gently.

"You always say that but something goes wrong,"

Riley's words echo in my brain. I can't tell the future but right now I have her and that's all I could ever ask for.

"Hey, baby, promise me something,"

"Anything,"

"Promise no matter what happens with us, just remember one thing for me and it's important. I need you to hear it carefully," I tell her softly, watching her head rise and fall where she lies on my chest.

She hums in reply, letting me know that she is still listening despite how tired she sounds.

I smile, "Don't even worry about it,"
