The morning after that day with Lance I got a text from Victoria asking if I wanted to hang out beacuse it's been too long since we last saw eachother. I thought my parents wouldn't mind me hanging out with her beacuse she is not only my cousin but my best friend. I just dressed up in simple black leggings, a white tank top and an oversized jean jacket and ran down the stairs. I went to the kitchen to grab a quick breakfast and was about to call Victoria when my mom stopped me. "Where are you going so early?" My mom said as she noticed what I was wearing. "Oh mom, Victoria asked if I wanted to hang out with her today." I said checking my phone for her text.
"But you're grounded Annabelle." She said in a calm voice. I tried finding the sarcasm in her face but there was none, "are you serious? But it's Victoria-" "I don't care who you are hanging out with today you're not leaving this house and that's final." If I was able to I would have filpped the table, "Mom what the heck? I haven't seen Victoria in a long time why can't I just go and hang out with her?" She looked at me disappointed, "then you should have thought about that before staying out late with a boy! Seriously Annabelle you know my policy on you hanging out with boys, not only that but your dad is ferious!"
I rolled my eyes and was about to do what I always did when I got upset, run up the stairs and locked myself in my room. "Anyway you already have plans today." I turned around and looked at her confused, "what do you mean?" I asked. Suddenly the doorbell rang and my mom went to go answer it. A young boy with dirty blonde hair and bright blue eyes came in, he had a backpack and nice clean clothes. "Hello Roger! Come in, where's your mom?" My mom said inviting the kid in, he pointed outside and my mom waved.
She made the kid come to the dinning room and set up 2 empty plates. She motioned me to sit down next to him and because I didn't want to piss her off even more I just followed. "Did you have breakfast Roger?" My mom asked. The boy shook his head no and my mom starts cooking eggs and bacon. I sat at the table miserably texting Victoria.
Me: sorry I can't hangout anymore... Grounded :(
Victoria: Aw really why? What did you do this time?
Me: Nothing big... Just stayed out late... With a Lance...
Victoria: Lance..? WAIT A BOY! ANNABELLE YOU HAVE A LOT OF EXPLAINING TO DO!!!Before she can even spam me I silance my phone and hid it in my pocket. "Annabelle don't make me take away your phone too." She said while putting down the food. I rolled my eyes and started filling my plate, "oh Roger by the way this is my daughter, she will be babysitting you today." "WHAT?!" we both said simultaneously, "I thought this was a "play date" or something, isn't she the same age as me?" The kid said which surprised me, I may be short but I don't look that young. "Listen kid I'm 16!" I said giving him a slight death glare. "Wow I'm 12 and I'm almost taller than you." He said back smiling at the fact. Before I can even strangled him my mom gave me that scary look mom's normally have when they're serious. "Annabelle we are babysitting Roger today beacuse his mom will be out of town for the weekend. Until then he will be staying here." I kept in my anger and just started stabbing eggs but I could tell Roger was not having it.
"I'm 12! I don't need a stupid babysitter!" He said standing up from the table. Offened I grabbed his sleeve and pulled him forward, "Hey I didn't sign up for this either!" He started struggling to get out of my grasp but i held on tightly. "Let go of me!" He yelled almost tearing up. I finally let go and he runs out the front door, "don't follow me!" He yells and slams that door. I look at my mom and she just continues drinking her tea. "His mom already told me he was going to act this way so it's fine. Just let him take a breath and he'll come back in." I slowly walk towards the door and look out the glass to see if he was still there or actaully tried runningi. I heard his muffled voice and a phone ringing in the bacground. "Mom how could you send me to someone's house when I can just take care of myself!" He started yelling in the phone. All I was think was how rude this kid was being. After awhile he finally opens the door and stomps back inside, "listen I can take care of myself just show me to my room and leave me alone."
