Armani stared at his phone for a while. Unable to move. Unable to function. His self confidence shattered into pieces that disintegrated into thin air. He sat with a blank mind on his bed before slowly resurfacing to earth. He took to his bookshelf and scanned the fragile spines until his eyes landed on one with intricate gold writing,
"Romeo and Juliet. What a tragedy." He sighed blinking back his tears as he reached out for it. Examining it for a while before stuffing it into a bag and leaving home.
He left his stuffy apartment for the first time that day. The stars smiled down at him, however he didn't smile back. He took in the night scenery around him. He took in the street lamps and occasional bird call as he trudged down the streets to make his way to a coffee house.
The coffee house stood out from the rest of the street. Brightly lit with music making juvenile attempts to leave the building. It radiated happiness and warmth. Something he craved for.
The crackle of the fire was audible from the moment Armani walked in. He was embraced with warmth and the smell of coffee. A small smile teased his lips as he spotted a familiar figure sat in front of the fire.
He cautiously made his way over to the empty seat beside her. The velvet comforting him as he sat down. "Arabella wasn't it?" He asked, letting his bag rest on his lap.
She shifted a little in her seat to face him, the light reflecting in her eyes as they flickered with recognition, "I remember you. I spilled coffee on you." They both laughed at te memory before falling into a somewhat awkward silence. "I am still sorry about that." She paused for a moment, reaching into her pocket, "allow me to make up for it."
"And how will you do that?" He furrowed his brows with confusion etched on his face.
"I'll buy you a drink." She rolled her eyes before standing up.
"I see you're one to change gender roles." He chuckled slightly, receiving a small huff of amusement from her. Before she walked away he held her wrist, effectively stopping her, "by the way. I'll have a hazelnut latte." He smiled at her before letting go and reaching into his bag.
He reached for the book who's skin seemed to burn against his. Who's memories tainted his heart.
"One hazelnut latte." A chirpy voice interrupted his thoughts, "Romeo and Juliet. Didn't take you to be one for Shakespeare." She chuckled a bit before taking her seat.
"I'm not." He blurted before ripping pages out the book and putting them into the fire. Watching them burn while the silence returned between himself and Arabella. However, unlike before it wasn't awkward. They sat and watched the pages of classical literature burn.
"Hey Armani?" Arabella finally piped up. He turned to look at her, prompting her to continue, "here's my number. Just drop me a text when you need anything or anyone to support you. Or if you need to rant." She handed him a small slip of paper before heading out the door into the darkness.
Armani smiled to himself and sunk into the seat slightly, allowing a kaleidoscope of butterflies flutter inside of him. Perhaps it was the coffee.
