The next morning you woke up early, remembering what happened the night before. You sighed in slight disappointment at the memory as you stood to get dressed, letting your wings stretch and shiver a little as the cool morning air hit your inner feathers.

Once you were dressed in a t-shirt and some jeans you walked out into the living room to see Loki sitting in the black, velvety arm chair that sat adjacent to the sofa. He was engrossed in The Lord of The Flies, seemingly a few chapters from the end. You yourself had grabbed Macbeth from your personal shelf in your room as you had left. Once you had grabbed a bowl of strawberries, and put some sugar on them, you filled a glass with milk, and sat down on the sofa closest to Loki. You cracked open Macbeth and ate your strawberries and sugar as you read. It was only now that Loki really noticed you.

"Good morning." He greeted, not taking his eyes off of the page he was on.

"Mornin' Loki." You return. Keeping your eyes locked on the words in front of you.

There was a second of awkward silence before Loki spoke up.

"Do you have any plans for today?" He asked kindly, holding his place in his book with a finger, actually looking at you. He liked how you looked when you were reading. It was attractive to say the least.

"Yes actually. After I finish breakfast, I have to head into S.H.E.I.L.D. They have a mission for me. Honestly, I wonder why they are sending me on this mission, because I'm still supposed to be watching over you, but they're letting Thor watch over you while I'm gone, so I guess it's good. I won't be long though. Only a week or so according to the job description." You say, looking up to Loki.

"Are they sending anyone with you?" Loki asks, hiding the concern in his voice with a level tone. He didn't like the idea of you on a mission alone, no matter how short.

"Nope. Just me. They think I can handle it on my own," you start. Almost as if you had read his mind, you followed up with a reassurance, "I'll be fine, I promise."

Loki was already worried about you and you hadn't even left yet. Your reassurance helped a little to ease his worrisome mind, but he couldn't help it.

"Is Thor coming over to take me to his home?" Loki questions after a moment of silence.

"No. He's meeting me at S.H.E.I.L.D. HQ. I'm supposed to bring you there and Thor will pick you up. That's what Fury called for." You say, looking away from Loki as he did when you brought up last night.

In truth, you didn't want to go. You liked being around Loki. You were even tempted to see if he could go on the mission with you, but you knew Fury wouldn't allow that yet. So when you spoke, outwardly it seemed normal, but in your mind it was thick with hesitance and unwant.

"Alright." Loki answered shortly. Your wings fell slightly at his sone-like tone, but you shrugged it off as you got up to get into your combat suit, grabbing your twin sabers and putting a couple handguns in the holster around your waist.

"Okay. I'm ready to go when you are." You say to a Loki that was still in the armchair with his nose in his book. He looked up at you, quickly noticing how your catsuit hugged your curves.

"I'm ready to go now. Just let me grab something from my room."

When Loki came from his room, he was in his armor and had Lord of the Flies, the first three Harry Potter books, and a beat up copy of Moby Dick in his arms.

"I think this shall suffice for a couple days." Loki says as you grin at all the books in his arms.

"More like one day with the way you read." You comment as you turn to leave the apartment. Loki on your tail, smirking at your response. He liked it when you were sassy.

You got to S.H.E.I.L.D. HQ quickly, heading to the hangar where the jet you would be taking sat awaiting you. Once you got there you quickly hugged Loki, taking him by surprise. He eventually reciprocated the hug. It was a few second before you broke it however.

"See ya in around a week buddy." You say as you prep the jet for takeoff.

"See you then." Loki states as Thor enters the room.

"Lady (Y/N)!" Thor called, "You didn't think you could leave without saying goodbye did you?"

"Wouldn't dream of it Thor!" You call back as you run into a huge hug, "I'll see ya later big guy!"

"I will see you soon Lady (Y/N)." Thor simply replied, smiling down at you.

"Ya know you can drop the 'Lady' and just call me (Y/N) right?" You joke as you head to the jet, "We've been friends for years!"

"We shall see." He answered, as he came to stand by Loki.

"Don't do anything stupid while I'm gone you two!" You yell from the cockpit of the jet as you took off.

Once you had left, Thor turned to Loki, noticing the forlorn look on Loki's face as the jet flew off.

"You're going to miss her, aren't you Loki?" Thor asks with curiosity in his tone.

"What makes you think that?" Loki asks as he finally tears his gaze from the jet you were flying.

"You have grown close to her Loki. It's blatantly obvious. From the way you look at her to your mood when she's around. You are fond of her." Thor reasoned.

For once Loki didn't respond with something snarky or sassy to his brother. He just turned his gaze back to the empty sky in the direction your jet had flown, before Thor pulled him gently to the door.
