every time I glance at you

every time I see you

you are alone

but not lonely

and you can hold my stare

I turn away first

every time

I see over there

you are you

you have no need for a mask

you have your face

and you know its good

yet one day

I saw you

I saw you had a mate

and you treated her

like more than a play date

space

respect

and

care

you did it all

you balanced it

you made it work

you lived it

I believe you

you know the way to love

you can do it

you can do it and forgive when you are broken

cause I’ve never seen it be your fault

even when she bites

you love

you lick her wound

when she gives you one

yet

when the time comes

and you need to run

you offer one last chance

you let her sniff you flank

just one last time

in hope you beg

hoping she’ll calm

but no

she’s won’t weather the storm

she’ll make the storm

so you leave

and you don’t look back

you are dejected

yet you aren’t sad

you aren’t lonely

not for more than a minute

how are you this healthy

you lonely wolf

what is your secret
