Scott and I were both sat in Chemistry when Lydia and Stiles run in, Lydia pushing her hair down and straightening her clothes, Stiles rummaging through his bag, looking confused. Scott taps me on the back, I turn around and laugh as he starts wiggling his eyebrows.
Lydia sits next to me, and Stiles sits behind us, next to Scott.
I turn to Lydia and raise my eyebrows.
She scowls at me and gets her books out.
"Ms Martin and Mr Stilinski; do you mind telling us why you were both late?" Mr Harris says, staring at then both.
"There was a cat in a tree-"
"There was traffic-"
Stiles and Lydia both say.
"Well? Which one is it? Did you save a cat in a tree or was there traffic?" Mr Harris asks them, questioning them as if it were a game. (It was always a game with Mr Harris.)
"Both."
Lydia and Stiles say simultaneously.
I try not to laugh.
"Very well. Okay, today we'll be focusing on the cores of the Earth. Mr McCall, could you name the layers of the Earth?" Mr Harris asks Scott.
"Um, the inner core, the outer core, the mantle and the crust?" He replies.
"Very well. You just answered a question any two year old could answer."
"Does anyone know what the inner core is made up of?" Mr Harris asks.
No one answers.
"Come on, sure you all aren't that stupid-" Mr Harris is quickly cut off by a knock on the door.
"What?" He asks (more like shouted).
"Um.." A voice from outside replies,
Someone steps in
But it's not just someone
It's the someone
It's Jackson.
"I'm in this class now. I know you missed me, Mr Harris."
I look over at my friends. They all look as shocked as I felt.
Jackson moves his way to the back of the room and begins to text.
Scott, Lydia, Stiles and I are all sat on the benches at lunch, speechless.
Finally, Stiles breaks the silence, "I thought has was in England.."
"Obviously not anymore." Scott replies.
"How does he just come back and all of his friends just greet him and act like nothing happened?" I say.
Lydia hasn't said a word since she saw him.
"Lydia?" Stiles puts his arms around her and rubs her arm.
She flinches ever so slightly.
That was enough to completely shock and hurt Stiles. He looks devastated.
"I'm gonna.. Go.." He picks his bag up and walks off.
"No, Stiles! Come on.." Lydia says, getting up and following him.
I go to get up but Scott holds my hand, "Better let them sort it out." I nod and sit back down.
"I understand why he's hurt. It's the little things that hurt most," I say.
"He feels rejected. He feels at fault, as if he's just hurt Lydia.
And now Lydia feels bad because she knows it hurt him."
"Relationships are weird." Scott replies.
"Tell me about it." I reply as he kisses me.
