-Prologue-

I’ve seen this world between night and day; at dawn and at dusk, and I’ve always praised its eerie beauty, with the mysterious drops of dew, and the sweet and harmonious cries of the Pokémon surrounding me.

Below the moon, above the roof I often do my melancholic dream there, again with my trusted ally. His nickname Roll, a young Geodude given to me by my father when he was still—alive. I cared for him until I went to middle school. He is a rock type Pokémon, but he always seemed to be sweet with me and my sister. Now, he accompanies me below the moonlight, thinking of what would come ahead of me tomorrow.

But then a faint glow showered. I knew that glow by the one and only Pokémon of my mother. A Solrock, a Pokémon with the shape of the sun, and two red eyes that I think is but a tiny colored spot in his rock hard body. He being here means one thing. Mom was below.

“Revel!” She called. “Come down here young man! You’re going to get hurt up there!”

I stood, and patted my partner in his head. “Okay mom! I’m going down!” I launched myself into the air, and jumped across that towering height of about twelve feet only to land safely in the sandbox I used to play with as a kid.

My Geodude jumped after me… Not really sure he did. He was a ball of rock, with eyes and arms. And without feet I’m not really sure if he can jump. But he landed softly, maybe because ground was his home too.

Now my mother approached me with her Solrock behind. Her arms on her waist, and her eyes were furious again. “How many times do I have to tell you! No jumping on the roof! IT’S DANGEROUS!”

I affixed my hands on my nape, gesturing a carefree pose. “I’m sorry.” I sounded stubborn.

“Well, you better be young man, ‘cause I’m not paying you to go to school for an attitude like that!” She scowled.

Then without answering I stared at the moon, which was now being cut off by a glow coming from the sun, real sun, not Solrock.

“You’re like your father.” She stared with me. “He always loved the sun’s rising and setting. That’s why he gave me Sol.” The large floating Pokémon’s eyes seemed to smile for him.

“Where is he.” I asked. I know that he is dead, but for one reason I always know he was out there.

“oh. He’s there somewhere.” She became emotional, her voice trailed off with a bit of dismay.

I looked at her as Solrock came to comfort her, “I’m sorry mom.” I apologized.

“oh, no, no!” She wiped her first tear and put on another cheerful face. “He’s happy where ever he is now, I’m sure of it.”

“Yeah.” I sighed.

My mother went back to the house followed by her trusty sun Pokémon, “Revel, come now. Help me with the food! You’re sister’s waking up soon! You’ve got class to attend you know?”

I smiled, looking back to Roll, who shrugged and smiled.

“Geo!” He gladly laughed.

I stared at the rising sun this time. It was not too bright when it began its shining, I can still stare at it. Its rays began to flicker as always. I wondered, if this sun was alive once, maybe a Pokémon, or something more than that. Maybe it was a god.

Then I shrugged off the idea and looked back to my house. I moved a sturdy pace, and realize one thing, that one reason I always know my dad’s out there. “We still look at the same sun and moon… Dad.” I whispered.
