Chapter V

-Immediate Wings-

Picture the fight as something like this.

The wind blew furiously, then there was me, with my tiny Geodude named Roll, backed up by someone named Ace, his Pokémon’s; Kangaskhan, a vicious Breloom, and then there goes another one, a Machamp.(which apparently was training inside the island too.) You think nothing would go wrong against a shining bird Pokemon named Skarmory. Well, you’re dead wrong.

Roll was already at his limits. Ace was laughing at me.

“Now!” He cheered, “Remember what I said, use your disadvantage as an advantage!”

I scanned the sky, watching signs for this very fast Pokemon. Roll already took a lot of beatings, first there was a metal wing attack, followed by strong whirlwind.

That’s your ticket home. Ace implied. Considering a catch this Pokemon, it can fly me back home. IF I CATCH IT.

I saw him once more. Diving towards us at full speed.

“Think this time!” Ace cheered out, he was still inside the Kangaskhan’s pouch while his two Pokemon pitted against each other in an arm wrestling match.

I looked at my tired Geodude, “what should we do!?”

“Think about it!” He cried back, now watching his Pokemon battle with strength.

I panicked. “Harden now!” Roll used it in the last second. The impact caused the Skarmory to wobble a little because he had hit Roll tight in the hardened head. But it stood pecking Roll violently, he seemed to enjoy the hardened Pokemon.

“Ah.” I began panicking. What to do? What to do? Geodude didn’t have enough energy to move, his battle with Breloom exhausted him. I hadn’t pushed him this hard. “Hang in there Roll!”

But he didn’t have enough hands to hang on. I needed to think of something. I’ve seen a Skarmory once, some place back in Jotho, a gym leader used a Skarmory against some challenger. It has a tough exterior. I looked at him for any weakness. There was none, metal can be defeated with fire, we have no fire.

Roll was done for. This Pokemon, the Skarmory has a keen eye. Prevents lost of accuracy… Unless, he’s the one who can’t see.

“Roll!” I commanded, “Dig!”

The Geodude struggled to big the soil. The Skarmory was amused by his feat, but continued pecking, with one last strong peck his beak landed at the soil, stuck.

Roll appeared below Skarmory’s sturdy head and gave a comeback tackle. The Skarmory screeched as his beak was feared.

“Not bad.” Ace saw. “But you need to do better than that.”

Just that and the Skarmory flew up again. “Good one.” I praised his feat. Roll gained a smile. He spied where the Skarmory took off, but he was out of sight. I went back to my original thinking, “Roll, be ready with this one. I want you to use a magnitude when you see him coming.”

He appeared, coming from the right. Roll bounced up to cause immediate earthquake that shattered where he was standing, the Skarmory dived towards it. The impact caused him to be buried below the scattered ground.

“Like I did.” Ace remarked.

“Roll-out!” I cried with the sweet mark of victory. Roll did his attack, as he spin the ground began to tremble. Oh no. The attack, magnitude caused the earth to be fragile again. It cracked, stopping Roll and freeing the Skarmory. “NO!”
