Carter has been thrown a lot of stones in life. will she let the pain and suffering get to her or will love cure it all?

After that day cole and I haven't talked really just a hi and bye in the hallways. So today is November 12th two days before my birthday. All I want for my birthday is for my childhood best friend Chrys to come visit and to be happy. Today i'm going to the mall with Mrs.Tyler to get me some new clothes and also to find my birthday outfit.
An hour later i heard a horn. I ran down stairs and said bye to Mrs. johnson and left out. Mrs. Tyler and I arrived at the mall ten minutes later. I'm so excited i never went to the mall without a budget. When I was back home i would go to the mall every 2-3 weeks just to get one piece of clothing because we didn't have money to waist.
"So Carter what store do you want to go?"Mrs. Tyler questioned
"idk ..... Let's try forever 21 first" I replied happily
So we went over to forever 2.1 I picked out four outfits that i really like. But i still haven't found my birthday outfit

So we went around the mall for about twenty minutes. I was so hungry that the whole mall could hear my stomach growl.
"Hey Mrs. Tyler can we grab something to eat?" I questioned respectfully
"Yes Carter about time you asked I heard your stomach growl so many times" she replied with a laugh
So we went to the food court. I got chick fil a nuggets and fries and Mrs. Tyler got a subway sandwich. We sat down and ate. After about five minutes we were back to shopping. I finally found my birthday outfit at Nordstrom. I'm a really simple girl I like just a simple white with a splash of gold.

After an hour and a half of shopping i was extinguished. I'm just ready to go home,lay down and rest. So after a ten minute ride home Mrs.Tyler dropped me off and she headed home. I went in the house, put my food in the fridge, got in the shower, put on my pajamas and laid down and fell right to sleep.
I heard a familiar voice. I opened my eyes and laid there just making sure it wasn't a dream. When i heard the voice again i got up quickly, went in the bathroom freshened up and ran downstairs.
"Omg it really is you" I said happily as i ran into her arms
"You think i would miss your birthday" she said while hugging me tightly
"I didn't know if you could find me with the move and everything" i said happily
"I will find you wherever you go best friend" she said reassuringly
"I can't wait to show you my new life" I said as i took her hand and led her to my room.
"Wow your room is amazing i'm so happy for you" she said kindly
"Hold on a sec" i said while running out the room
I went downstairs in the kitchen and hugged Mr and Mrs. johnson and said" thank you this is the best gift ever." they laughed and said you welcome anything for our birthday girl. I never been this happy before. I never been this excited for my birthday before. I ran back upstairs
"Chrys i'm going to get dressed and then we can go anywhere you want go first" i said happily
"Cant wait" she said happily
I went in the bathroom, got in the shower, did my hair and put on a little makeup. After i was finished we went down stair and got in Chrys car. The whole car ride we listened to our favorite songs and sung along. After twenty minutes we ended up at the festival they have all year around. We used to come here often when we were kids.
"Carter you remember everything used to seem so big here" she said happily
"Yes Chrys how could i forget" i said happily but sadly remembering the good times with dad.
For about an hour we walked around, played the games,got on rides and ate all the samplers we can eat. I haven't had this much fun with her in years. After we were done at the festival we decided that we are going to the movies next. After about a six minute drive we arrived at the theaters. As we entered the place I saw cole and his best friend Ethan with these two girls. I was trying to avoid him as we bought our tickets for The Fault in Our Stars. But trying to avoid him didn't seem to work.
"Hey Carter" Cole called out as he jogged over to us
"Hey Cole" i said calmly
"What you doing here and who is this?" he questioned
"I'm coming to see a movie and this is my best friend and we have to go" i said nonchalantly
I took my bestfriend hand walking off quickly. Cole stood there for a second with a confused look on his face. Then he went back over to his friend and those girls. As i watched him sadly i couldn't believe he thought i was going to be cool with him talking to me in front of that girl. Well i'm not sad i don't have feelings for him any way.
Chrys and I got popcorn, gummies and a large blueberry slush for us to share like we use to when we were kids. We took seats in the middle row. As the movie began. As i was watching the movie i felt someone looking at me. I looked back and it was Cole. we looked eyes for a couple of seconds and then i looked away. I can't be liking him. He's just a friend and i don't know how to love anything or anyone. After an hour the movie was over. Chrys and i went straight to the car turned on our favorite music and jammed all the way home. When we arrived we went straight to my room got in our pajamas and went to sleep.
