Scarlett's P.O.V.
Fear. It's what stops people from pursuing things they love. It's what makes people believe they have no one to help them. It lives inside your mind for the rest of your life. Telling you that whatever you believe is true will become reality. It is what has stopped me from taking down Peter even when I was apart of them team. He was so manipulating and probably still is. He held the slightest things over my head to make me stay. He would complain about he wouldn't be whole without me. Right when I was about to go the police after he'd almost done something to kill me, he disappeared. Vanished into thin air. It was completely surprising, but very comforting. It's a horrible thing to say, I know, but he was gone and I could finally breathe. It was like the rope to the anchor weighing be down had been cut and I was able to swim to the top.
Now that I can take him down after knowing what I am and how to control my powers I feel so happy. My mom I hope would be proud that I can stand up for myself and take care of myself. I think she would frown on the way that I'm doing it, but I don't think there's another way to do it. If I want to be free, I have to kill Peter. It sounds to morbid coming off of my tongue and it's not my first choice, but when it comes down to it. Killing him will allow me to live freely.
*Knock, knock, knock*
"Scarlett, it's Jace, I'm coming in." Jace spoke through the other side of the door. When he opened it he looked directly at me and frowned.
"What?" I asked.
"It's four in the afternoon and you're still in bed. It's not like you. Everyone is a little worried about you right now." He replied as calm as ever.
"Jace, I promise, there's nothing to worry about. I've just been thinking a lot and working on music. I'm busy and tired. That's all." I lied with out any indication that I was lying. Jace looked directly into my eyes for a few minutes.
"Alright, Dad wants to see you. I don't know what he wants. He didn't tell me." Jace turned around, walked out, and closed the door. I hated lying to my brother, but it was best for him and everyone else. If they knew that I'd been seeing my team again, I don't know what they would do. They sure wouldn't be happy, I knew that much. Instead of continuing to ponder, I decided I should get up and go see my father. So, I took a quick shower got dressed and went to my father's study. This time the door was cracked slightly, meaning that I didn't have to knock.
"Dad?" I called as I pushed the door open.
"Back here!" he replied from the back of the room.
"What're you doing with the book shelf?" I asked when I finally saw what he was doing.
"I'm trying to move it, obviously. Now quit staring at me and help." He stopped for a minute to look over at me and motion for me to stand next to him. Together we pushed the book shelf to the right and little by little an opening appeared to reveal steps. I'd never known that those had ever been there, but I figured I might as well just go with it.
"Follow me." My father said as he grabbed what looked like a giant stick from the side of the wall, but as soon as his hand touched the stick a flame sprang to life on the top of it. The torch illuminated a decent portion of this medieval looking staircase. I followed my father as we descended step by step to only god knows where.
"Dad, where are we going?" I asked and my voice echoed in the darkness.
"You'll see." He said and after that we just walked in silence down the steps for about two to three more minutes before we came to a hallway that led to one giant, wooden door at the end of it. We walked quietly to the end of the hallway. When we approached the door I realized that there was no handle.
"Put your hand on the door." My father said just as I was about to ask why there wasn't a handle. I gave my father a confused look, but I did as he said. Before my hand could even touch the door, it swung open. I quickly glanced at my father and his expression showed some shock.
"Dad, what is this place?" I asked as we walked into an enormous room filled with these colossal book shelves, which were all packed with books. There were several shields and swords that hung on open spaces on the walls. There were also chests that sat under the items hanging.
"Immortalis Bybliotheca. The Immortal Library. Only our people can enter and leave as they wish. If a mortal were strong enough to enter, they would be trapped." I nodded my head understanding what he meant; Don't bring Harry.
"Why bring me down here?" I asked.
"You need to see the weapons you will have to use." He said bluntly.
"Weapons I will have to use?" I asked more than said.
"You plan on taking down Peter, correct?" He asked and I simply nodded, "Then, you will need weapons. Peter and his crew of misfits are fallen angels too. That also includes your team, they're immortals, but not fallen angels."
"I know that, but why help us create a war?" I asked.
"Because sometimes in order for there to be peace, there must be a war. You have to win, not for your sake, but for Harry's. You're his angel now."
"What does that mean?" I asked staring at my father.
"Every mortal gets a pure guardian angel, but sometimes people are more than mortal and they get a fallen guardian. Harry happens to be more than mortal. I'm not sure how, all I know is that he's of royal blood, but he is and you must protect him. Do you understand?"
"Yes." I responded with a short answer, but in my head I was saying a thousand words. Harry is the person I'm to protect and nothing will stop me from keeping him safe. He's a royal, and I am too, but he's also not a full immortal. I will protect him, no matter the cost, even if, that includes my own life.
