I'm coming for you.
I dropped my phone into my lap and held back the tears that threatened to burst from my eyes. There was only one person who could send that text, my ex-boyfriend. He hated me, and he cared about me, he beat me, yet loved me. I never understood him and I still don't, but every time I thought about him I wanted to cry because I loved him more than anything and he decided to throw my love away and tear me apart instead. He made me do things that I would've never thought about doing if I'd never met him. He corrupted the innocent I was. I was just like Katie, and now I'm the complete opposite. Most people would expect me to wish I could be the person I was before I met him. But, honestly, I'm glad I went through what I did because it made me a stronger person. I don't regret a single thing I did and I don't think I ever will. I know that some things I did were morally wrong, but I don't regret them. It is what it is and I can't change it.
"Scarlet. Hello?" Harry squeezed my knee sending a jolt through my body and snapped me out of my thoughts.
"Yeah. What's up?" I said realizing there was a tear sliding down my cheek on the opposite side of my face so Harry couldn't see.
"Are you okay? You look like something's wrong." Harry asked sweetly.
"Yeah. I-I'm fine." I stuttered with the stinging in the back of my throat.
"Okay." I glanced over at Harry who was looking at me with a worried look on his face. I then glanced in the rear-view mirror to look at Niall, who was looking out the window like something was bothering him. I returned my eyes to the road.
"Okay. So do you guys want to go the my house or back to the studio? Because legally we're not actually suppose to be recording you until the paper work is finished and that takes a while. Trust me I know." I said stopping at a red light.
"Going to your place sounds like a good idea. What do you think Niall?" Harry turned around to Niall, who I guess just nodded because I didn't hear him respond. "Alright I'll text Louis and tell him to tell Kate that we're going to you're house."
"Okay." I kept one hand on the wheel as we slowly made our way to my house through the L.A. traffic. The entire time my mind was somewhere else. I couldn't stop thinking about the text. I'm coming for you, what was that suppose to mean? Was he really coming for me? Or was he trying to push me back into hiding? To be honest I wasn't going to back down, not this time. I'll stand my ground, if I can. My thoughts were cut off by a guy in a Dodge charger almost ramming into my Charger while trying to get in my lane. I swerved a little so he didn't hit my car.
"Thanks, dick! Quite the driving skills you have! Maybe you should kiss my ass before you hit my car!" I yelled out the window in frustration. He responded by kindly flipping me the bird and running the red light. I slowed to a stop and turned to face Harry.
"Sorry you had to witness my uncontrollable road rage. Though it could've been a lot worse if he has actually touched my car." I said with a smile and the light turned green.
"Well, glad he didn't touch your car. At first I thought you were going to go all high speed grand theft auto chase on him." Niall laughed from behind me and I doomed joined.
"Trust me I probably would've." I laughed and turned the car to the right to go down a street. The street along with a few other turns made the path to my house outside of the city. I pulled into my driveway and saw that the gate guard wasn't in the tower. I hopped out of the car and unlocked the gate, then got back in the car.
"I hate when Carlos isn't here. I always have to unlock the gate back in the car then close and lock the gate." I sighed as I drove through the gate and then hopped out to close and lock the gate.
"So where is your house exactly? Because all I see is grass, dirt, and trees." Niall asked.
"It's at the first turn off on the road." I said driving the car slowly down the dirt road.
"First turn off? You mean you have other houses here?" Harry asked and I laughed.
"Oh no, we have horse stables, a greenhouse, and a guest house. We have a lake, but it doesn't run along this road." I said turning into the paved loop that has a fountain in the middle.
I parked in front of the stairs that lead to our massive front doors. Kate and the other boys pulled in behind me and the boys gawked at my massive estate or my dads to be exact.
"This is your house?" Liam asked politely with wide eyes.
"Yes, but no. My dad owns the house, I just live here." I said as we walked up our grand staircase.
"Well, it's amazing." Liam said smiling.
"Thank you." I said as the front door opened.
"Ah, Scarlet I didn't know you'd be having guests over. Would you like me to have the chefs prepare a snack?" Alfred asked politely.
"No, we're okay, but thanks for asking." I smiled at Alfred. "Oh, guys this is my butler Alfred. Kindest man alive."
"Nice to meet you." The boys said in unison and apparently surprising each other by the looks they have on their faces. Alfred smiled at them and looked back to me.
"Well Miss a Scarlet I will leave with your friends, but I do have something to discuss with you later. Please come to the guest house, goodbye." Alfred said before walking through the kitchen door and disappearing.
"What does he want to talk with you about?" Kate whispered in my ear. I shrugged my shoulders and motioned for the boys to follow me down the hall. We walked down the hall in silence and I told them they could stay in any room they wanted. If they didn't like those rooms, they could choose one up stairs that looks as if it hasn't been touched in a while.
When they were settled for the night I made my way to the guest house that down the way from our house. Instead of walking which most likely would've taken at least fifteen minutes I decided to take Morning Star, my horse. When I arrived I tied Star to a tree and hopped off. It was cool for a night in L.A. and I probably should've worn a sweatshirt. I knocked on Alfred's door and he immediately opened it.
"Arrived later than I thought." He said and pulled me inside.
"Yeah, what did you want to talk to me about?" I asked as I took a seat in his kitchen as he handed me a cup of tea.
"The boys, you're father said you were working with are going to be staying here for a whole right?" he asked and I nodded. "I just wanted to warn you that you have been through a lot and you do not need the stress of being with a member of a b-"
"Alfred my father has already talked to me about this. No dating any of the
boys. I mean I could possibly only date two because the others are dating or are engaged. But trust me, I will try to stay away." I said.
"I know, love, and that's not what I wanted to talk to you about. It's him." I paled at the mention of his name and looked down at mug of tea.
"And what about, him?" My voice was small, but harsh.
"He's back."
