Reaching for Hope Book 2

Chapter 1

It is the last week of summer, I spent a lot of time with Ashley and Taylor. Turns out that they don't live very far from me. We made a pated to not say anything about what happened last year. I still have nightmares about the whole thing, but they're getting better.

When I first got home at the end of the school year, it seemed as if my dad never knew I was gone. He never said a word to me about anything. I didn't say anything, I didn't want him to worry. I hate it when people worry about me.

We had to start packing to head back to school soon because of the new year, and I was in charge of making sure the new freshman didn't get lost an know all the rules. Last year in the chemistry lab I nearly blew up half the school. In the end, I still had pretty good grades, I had to study more than I was used to. almost every day I had to go to the library to study instead of going to the cafeteria with my friends. Every so often Aaron would come by with some coffee.

Today I'm waiting for Ashley to come over to come school clothes shopping with me, I've grown a bit taller and my hair is a lot longer too. She's going to be teaching me how to go my makeup and some new things to do with my hair. I sat on the couch waiting for her to come pick me up, my dad came into the room holding a book. He took a deep breath and sat next to me, "this was your mother's diary, she told me to give it to you."

"Why wait till now?" I wasn't sure what I should say, I didn't have anything of mom's. I never complained it doesn't bother me, but why now?

"After I heard that you went missing, I knew who took you and why. they know about the gift that your mother had passed on to you when she died." I just sat there, shocked. He knew and he didn't say anything, he could have said something. This whole time I thought he didn't care." They want your powers, they want to use them for there family's benefits. Mr. Eve tried to marry your mother, but when she said no he tried to take her by force. This was not long after you were born, she gave up her powers and sent them to you. Once she did that she vanished, they found her body not far from our old house in Florida."

"Was it just the past she could see?" I asked

"Ya, why do you ask?"

"I can see the past future and the present. I can also let people see me when I'm in those times."

"Your mom had mentioned something about that. I think it because you've had your powers from such a young, you've had the chance to expand your powers and use them to your own benefits."

"So when Mr. Eve had me, Is that why Aaron was able to see me when I wanted to see him?"

"maybe, I don't know much about any of this. The only stuff I do know is what your mother had told me." this was the first time my dad had willingly talked about my mom, just before I could say anything more there was a knock on the door.

Ashley let herself in she instantly started talking, "So, first I have to teach you how to do your makeup, find your style. Also, I just found out there is a dance for all the new students and the people that are giving them their tours." She stopped and looked at us,"Did I walk in on an important conversation, if I did I'm so sorry."

 "Don't worry about it, we were just finishing up anyways." My dad said giving her a smile.

"OK, so Grace you ready to go?" Ashley asked

"Ya, just let me grab my purse and we'll go." As I walked to my room my dad followed me.

"Here grace, keep it safe." He handed my moms diary, it was small and made out of leather.

"Thanks, dad, I'll never lose it. I promise."

"Good now go hang out with your friend."

I walked back to the living-room and Ashley and I made our way to the train station, we had to take two trains and a bus to get to the mall. There were so many shops I was sure I was going to get lost, in the maze of clothes.

Ashley guided me through so many stores I had lost count. I know had 5 new tops, 4 pairs of jeans, and a new dress for the dance. Although the school has uniforms, we need clothes for our days off and when we go into town. As we were leaving the mall to go home, I noticed that there was someone following us, he had been in every store we had been in and was following us out. I had to get us out of there.
