Is time passing while I'm here? If so, how long has it been? it could still be winter, maybe almost spring. Honestly, I wanted to leave. The longer I'm here, the more my chest hurts. Now that I know there are people out there, I want to find them.
Over time the white infinite world became a grassy field with memories scattered about. I remembered a lot now, but there is a lot I don't know. Throughout elementary school and middle school, I would spend hours perfecting my abilities. My dad didn't like me using them, but I never knew why.
Out of everything that I learned, there is one thing I wanted more than anything. I wanted to read my mom's diary. My dad gave it to me right before school started, but things got so crazy I never got the chance.
"GRACE! Are you even listening to me?" The woman said.
"I'm sorry, I was thinking," I replied.
"As I was saying, you have one major memory to obtain. After that, we can focus on connecting the rest of your memories." She sipped her tea and continued, "This last one may be tricky, erased the memory yourself."
"Was it that bad?"
"I'm afraid so."
"I'm guessing it's way worse than the Eve and Leo stuff." I slid down my chair slightly.
"We will start in the morning, try and get some rest." I went to bed but it felt like my insides were all messed up. I couldn't think of anything that could be worse than what I already knew.
I woke up before the world outside had gained its light. I ended up leaving the room and made my way to a dead area. It was fairly large and looked as if a nuke came down upon it. From where it was placed in my memories, it looked to be from a time when I was 6 or 7 years old.
"I see you're here early." The woman placed her hand on my shoulder.
"Ya, I woke up earlier than I expected."
"The shall we get started?"
"Yes."
She led me to the very center of the dead land. Because I had erased the memory myself, I had to use my power to unlock it.
I sat down and listened to the quietness around me. Out of nowhere, I felt an overwhelming amount of fear course through my body. Everywhere hurt, my muscles ached and my head was pounding.
As soon as it came, it was gone.
I stood in a small room. it smelt like mold and the air was freezing but had an odd warmth to it, kind of like it had something in it. A door on the far side of the room went flying open and a little girl was tossed in. Her hands were bound behind her back and she was covered in dirt. I stepped closer to her and realized it was me.
I stumbled back and fell to the floor in shock. I looked like I was only 7! I sat there for a few minutes till someone came through the door. It was a tall man in black, he looked very familiar.
"Finally I have a child who possesses the power of time," He bent down and grabbed the girl by the hair. "Look at me, child!"
"please," little me whispered, "I'm sorry."
"You know, your mom was hard enough to get. She never listened to anything I had to say. As soon as I found out she had a child, who had inherited her powers, she was of no need to me." He laughed, "I'm sure you know what happened to her."
"Master Eve, the council knows you have the girl." A man in a mask said.
"I will have what I need soon enough," He took hold of the girl and looked into her eyes. "I kidnapped your Great Grandma Sarah and killed everyone related to her, years later I killed her, her daughter, and her husband. What I didn't know is that her daughter Hannah had a secret child, your mom Divya."
Divya, that's my mom's name. How did I not know? when I erased this memory, did I erase a piece of my mom with it? That's why I was perfecting my power, I wanted to forget. It's why my dad tried so hard to stop me.
"Enough talk lets get this over with." His hand was no longer solid, it looked as if it was pure magic. he held her up higher and thrust his hand into her chest. He was trying to remove the source of my powers. The child let out a blood-curdling scream.
As she screamed particles of magic came rushing to her, I could feel it moving around me. That strange warmth I had felt earlier was magic in the air.
The magic spiralled around her and collected near her heart. The man looked terrified, he went to pull he had away. Before he could there was a beam of light, just like the one I was before I entered my own mind. The beam vanished and there was an explosion and everything went flying.
once everything settled, all there was left was the little girl curled in a ball in the center of a large crater. It was the exact one in the dead area of my mind. The young girl laid unconscious while leftover bits of magic settled to the ground beside her.
~Authors Note~
Oh my goodness this chapter took so long to write! I was grounded for a little while and my family is getting ready to move. I've also got myself a summer job!
It's going to take some time to adjust to a new schedule because I'm gonna have to wake up at 4:30 am to get to work on time. My new house also won't have wifi for a while.
Also, I have plans to make all my stories connect to one another. I've started watching a lot of Marvel movie and kind of got inspired to do something similar.
Love,
Hannah A. Williams
