1: Tragic Past
Now, a tragic past isn't always bad, I will say this now. However, you can't milk this too far. If your character is constantly depressed due to this and always brings it up for no reason it isn't going to work, especially if we're supposed to sympathize with this character. Lets be real here, nobody is going to have any sympathy for someone who's constantly talking about how their family was killed by ninjas or they were raped by a family member. The only reason people use rape in their oc's backstory is for shock value. This is a very sensitive topic that can offend a lot of people, so either don't do it, or do some research and give a warning before you just throw this at other people's faces. Abuse is another one. If your character was abused by their parents, you need to put in research. You cannot just throw this in to make your character's life seem bad. Plenty of other things could be used as a substitute!

2: Flawless Appearance
Again with sympathy. No one will ever sympathize or even like a character who has perfect looks. Especially since this usually means that all the boys/girls will like them. (Let's be fair, it's mainly females)

3: More Than 6 Canon Characters Like Them (Either Crushing or Friends)
When you make an oc, it is okay to have the canon characters like them as friends, but having more than six of the cannon characters who are close to them is really too much. Even six is right there at the line. Starting with relationships with canon characters.... It's not... Bad... To do this as long as you do it right. If you ship your character with a main canon character, you have to understand that if you roleplay with someone, you can't shove their relationship down their throat. Some people won't like it, you have to be okay with this. Not everyone has the same opinion. If you were to ask me, I would lean more on the side of saying that you probably shouldn't. If you still want to do this for sure, then you have to know how to do it. Don't just throw them into a relationship. Let it develop.

4: Becoming Hokage
If your character becomes Hokage, that is an automatic Sue trait. You all know why, so I'll try to keep it short and simple. Your character is not stronger than most characters just because they have special powers. Naruto worked his way up to Hokage, and it took him a really long time. No Hokage has ever been selected when they were 13. That is just not right.

5: Joining The Akatsuki
The Akatsuki is an organization of some of the most skilled ninja that went rogue. Your character will most likely not be skilled enough without The Mary Sue Power Of Plot. Let's leave it at that.

6: They Have A Kekkei Genkai
Of course, all special Naruto OCs must have the special Kekkei Genkai power. Most of which doesn't even make sense. If you give your character a kekkei genkai, take your time, please! You have to put in your research of chakra nature and it's affiliations before you give him/her an impenetrable power that makes them invincible.

7: They Are A Really Skilled Fighter
Most of the time, Mary Sues will reach past the power of Sage or Kage before adolescence. It is also not uncommon to see a Jinchuuriki (I'm sorry if I spelled that wrong) oc. A Jinchuuriki is a host for a tailed beast, or Bijuu. The only way for a character to become a Jinchuuriki is if they are incredibly strong and powerful, like Naruto, Gaara, or Rin. Those are all examples of children/adolescents who were able to endure the Bijuu placed inside of them. Another example is Killer Bee. This would be impossible if everyone liked your oc, considering every Jinchuuriki to date was made fun of or avoided because of the Bijuu inside them. Do your research. I don't care if you've seen the entire show, go to the fandom wikia and do your research.

Now there are many more, but I found these are the most common ones.
ONTO THE EXAMPLE!!
