Melody's POV
I knew instantly who James was I could tell not only was he a werewolf but I could sense he was an alpha. Our eyes locked only for me to fall instantly in love with his green eyes but when he asked me where I was from I started to panic,"You wouldn't know where it is. It's just another small town," I answer knowing it was not a complete lie so he wouldn't pick up on it.
I know I should go to make sure I'm safe I honestly shouldn't be on the beach if anyone spots me from the water I'll have to go on the run but I have no idea where I would go. At this point hiding, staying out of trouble, and being safe is the most important things to help my people. I can't fight alongside them as I would prefer since if anything happened, the amount they could charge as ransom could even force my Dad to hand over the kingdom. I've been taken by the rebels before it was not fun and the memories still haunt me. I was able to escape but it is not something I want to ever happen again. I am pulled out of my thoughts by James asking me where I live now.
"Oh further down on the shore on one of the other private beaches," I respond with a smile looking back into his green eyes. I could honestly get lost looking into his eyes for hours.
"I can lead you back to that area if you want?" he asks with a smile.
"I would love that," I respond. We start walking back in the direction I came from after he tells his friend he'll meet him back at his house.
"So here in town there's only really two private beaches the one you live on and this one, the public beach is pretty small and a few miles down the road from where I think you are." He explains to me as we walk. "No one has really lived on your section of the beach. It's always been owned by one family who just isn't there. I honestly thought no one would actually be living there."
"Yeah I just moved the house it's in the family and I needed to leave the town I came from. I didn't want to go I just knew I had to," I say to him softly trying my hardest to not cry.
James nod, "I'm sure you'll figure it out and you can always call your old friends and you'll make more here."
I nod back in response knowing he was just trying to help but I never actually made friends back home. I cared greatly for every person in my kingdom but I spent most of my time training to be the next ruler and learning how to fight so I can protect myself and others. Most mers go through just basic combat training just in case but due to my status, I'm trained in almost all forms of combat and weaponry. Land combat though is definitely not my strong suit but I know what I'm doing in a fight. It's not something I would brag about it just is another part of my life, I'm not one to fight just because I can. My whole life has been preparing to take over the kingdom and be a good ruler and know the full extent of my powers and strengths.
"I'll also help you get around school today if you need to, the building can be really confusing and stuff," James says as we get to my house.
"That would be great! I'm pretty nervous about going, I was homeschooled most of my life," I say honestly. "so I guess I'll see you in a few hours?" I say not wanting him to leave.
"Yeah," James says after a second. "If you want you can text me," he says quickly before giving me his number. I smile brightly and can feel the blood rush to my cheeks before he leaves.
