James's P.O.V.

I sit down at my normal lunch table and save a spot next to me for Melody. I watch her as she waits in line and I unpack my bagged lunch. People trickle into the cafeteria and go to sit at their normal tables. My friends sit down at my table which consists of Jackson, his mate Sophia, my gamma Mason and his mate Ashley, and my head warrior Will, and lastly my little brother Alex. They all are talking about something I don't pay attention to.
"Did you see the new girl today? Will says to bring my attention to their conversation.
"Yeah and I mainly saw her with James. What's up with that?" Ashely adds in. Before I can answer Melody comes over and I make a Jackson move over so she can sit next to me.
"Why is she sitting with us?" Alex mind links me confused why a mortal was sitting with the pack.
"She's my mate," I glare at him as I mind link him and everyone at the table. Immediately their view of her changes. They all start introducing themselves to her and she responds with a kind smile.
"Hi, I'm Melody," she responds after everyone introduced themselves.
We all talk throughout the lunch period, mainly getting to know Melody. So far she's talked about how her dad can be overprotective and how she loves the ocean and how she's always lived close to the shore.
Lunch passes by and I lead Melody to the girl locker room since we both had PE after lunch. I smile as I watch her walk away and I can't help but stare at her ass. I head to the guys changing room and get changed into black shorts and a grey t-shirt. I shove my stuff into a locker before heading out into the gym for such a "hard" class. The majority of the class was werewolves but since there are some humans the teacher Mr. Green kept class pretty easy in werewolf standards. It was easy compared to the intense training all pack members who already shifted had to go through even with our high natural endurance and strength. I head into the gym to see Melody already in there with her hair in a ponytail and wearing tight shorts and a 3/4 Steve shirt that also hugs her curves I give a growl to the guys staring at her. She looks over at me with a smile before turning her attention to our teacher. He explains we will start with a mile worth of laps to warm up. I can't help but stare at Melody the whole time Mr. Green went over the plans for the day. He continues talking and I'm only pulled out of my trance when we have to start running. I start off at a slow jog so I don't raise suspicions by how fast werewolves are. I watch Melody as she's able to keep up with me and the other werewolves. We finish up the laps and Melody looks like she hasn't even broken a sweat surprisingly. I've never seen a human who can run a mile without being tired after. Once everyone is done we pair up for crunches and quickly head Melody's side. Jackson looks at me and shakes his head since I'm always his partner in class. I hear the other girls in the class making jealous remarks towards melody.
"I can go first if you want," I offer with a soft smile.
"Sure," she smiles back.
I get down onto the floor and she puts her weight on my feet to keep them in place. I feel the soft tingles of the mate bond from her touch.
"So, have you always lived here?" My adorable mate says awkwardly as I do my crunches.
"Born and raised."
"That must be nice. I moved around a lot growing up...I honestly think I'll be here longer than most places," she says demeanor changing for a quick second before forcing a smile. "It's not that bad here once you get to know everyone. I'm sure by then you won't want to leave," I encourage since I want her to stay with me. If she just got up and left I don't know what I would do. I finish up my crunches in silence as I see a mess of emotions running through her mind.

"I just really miss my family," she tells me as we switch, "I'm not used to being so far from them."

"I'm sorry. I can't imagine what that's like. What are they like?" I ask to help cheer her up.

"My Dad is a great man he can be overprotective but his intentions are always good. It's really just the two of us but since he is in charge of his own business some of the employees are like family to me."
"I get it. My dad works with his best friend so his kids are basically my siblings."
The rest of class passes quickly as I mainly tell her about my family as she asks more and more about them. Our conversation is interrupted by Mr. Green calling for everyone's attention.
"Alright everyone good work today. Don't forget our swim unit starts next week. I'll see you all tomorrow," he says dismissing us.
Everyone heads towards the locker rooms and I start to follow when I hear Melody talking to Mr. Green.
"Hi Mr. Green," she says to get his attention.
"Hi, Melody right?"
"Yeah. Um, I'm actually allergic to chlorine so I can't participate in the swim unit. It should be in the school records but I wasn't sure if anyone told you."
"No they didn't but I'll make note of that."
"Alright, thank you," she says and starts to make her way to the locker room. I head into the locker room before she can ask me if I was eavesdropping. Once I'm in the guys locker room Get changed thinking about how chlorine is a weird allergy.
