Neal woke up and spun in his bead, trying to open his eyes, wondering why wasn't the alarm clock ringing. It became obvious later, but he must've been very tired to notice he was late by more than the usual ten minutes. His eyes opened wide at the number on the clock, he jumped out of bed and tripped on his pajama pants while making himself naked to enter the shower. (A/N: picture that bunch of sexiness getting naked and trip on his pants 7u7)
He was ready and out of his building in less than -record time- 15 minutes, Peter would kill him for sure. On the walk he remembered June was out of town and that he forgot to eat, well aware of the peril of being even more late, he stopped at the cafe two blocks away from FBI's White Collar Headquarters. There wasn't time to sit, so he asked for a croissant and a cold latte at the pick up window. It was ready in two minutes and he left as quick as he could, trying not to spill the latte over his suit or anyone else.
At the Headquarters' doors a tourist gal reached for Neal, she looked like she could use some help and he decided to stop and help her. Neal kept thinking he would be late, being so close, but for some reason, he got caught in those eyes, those deep hazel eyes.
-Sorry Mr. I was wondering if you knew how to get to the Rockefeller Center...- What she was saying, he was listening to, though his attention was always someplace else.
She finished talking with a question, Neal was trapped by her beauty -Sorry, can I know your name?- she asked before he could leave -Neal- he gave her a look, asking for hers, the young woman mumbled -Madison- Neal smiled back -Nice meeting you Neal- she looked down, then back at his eyes -Same- they smiled to each other.
The moment lasted until someone dropped his bag and it made a very loud sound, Neal turned away and remembered he had to be at work like 20 minutes before the actual time so he excused himself -It was really nice to meet you but I'm super late for work, sorry and good bye- she nodded -Oh yes, nice meeting you too, I'm the one who should be sorry for keeping you here, good luck, bye- he waved with a smile and left ASAP.
..................................................
For the rest of the day, Neal kept thinking of Madison, those factions carved in his brain and he wanted to be close to that sweet stranger smell again. The time to leave came quicker than expected and Neal ran home, he had set himself a goal, to find Madison and get to know her better. While he went upstairs he tried to remember every detail he caught about her to ask his friend for help. His brain was a mess, he wrote down all he could and ended up with a pretty accurate sketch of her, now it was time to call Moz.
He arrived five minutes after the call, -What's going on?- a confused Moz asked when he found a desperate shirtless, sweaty Neal almost pulling his hair out -Moz, thanks God you're here! Now, please tell me you can find this girl for tomorrow- he showed Moz the sketch he did. The man grabbed the paper and stared at it for few seconds with an intellectual glare -I can find her, I think I saw her this morning at The Rockefeller Center- Neal's eyes went wide open -For real?- Moz nodded and Neal hugged him with a smile -Move back friend! You're sweaty- he cleanse his suit with his right hand, took a deep breath and asked -Now, why do I have to find this girl?- Neal looked at him desperately -Alright! I'll make no questions, but you'll have to tell me later- a smile got into Neal's face and he nodded.
It was late when Moz finished his search -of course he was noticed a little late too so it took him longer- and they had decided Neal would skip work next day and go find her first thing in the morning. This was the perfect plan, Moz had her tracked down so they would know where she was and since she was a tourist with no time to spare in knowing the Big Apple, who could show her around better and in less time than Neal Caffrey, her new personal stalker. Moz left at 11 o'clock and Neal went to bed almost an hour later, he kept thinking if he was going nuts by falling for this girl after seeing her once, it was like being trapped in Romeo and Juliet.
The morning arrived with the soft rays on sunshine over his perfect skin. Mozzie was there staring at his friend, holding the laughter, he looked like a sleeping baby. Finally Neal was awake and got scared by Mozzie who laughed at him as long as it took him to shower and get ready to search Madison. It was 8:00 already and the radar said Madison was leaving her hotel, Neal went to find her, leaving Moz alone with Neal's and June's wine collection.
It didn't took long for Neal to recognize Madison when he arrived at her hotel, she look amazing in that tight jeans and white shirt under a red Harvard pull over, her red hair tided up in a ballerina bow and her dark blue Chuck Taylor's. Looking elegant but youthfully, the investigation Moz did last night showed she was 25, two less than Neal, perfect age to look like a kid dress up as an adult and look mature at the same time. Neal reached over and made it look like casual, then made his move
-Sorry...Wait, Adison? So nice seeing you again! What a coincidence!- she laughed
-Neal, I say the same, this city does have a lot of surprises, what are you doing here?-
-I was on my way to the coffee shop up street for some breakfast, did you had some already?- Neal asked, knowing the hotel didn't included breakfast
-Well actually, no, I was thinking on maybe picking up something on the way to the wax museum but that coffee shop sounds nice, where did you say it was?- she was playing hard to get
-Wanna join me? I can show you around and help you choose the best in the menu- he used his attractive tone and softened with friendly voice and smile
-That sounds nice, why not, but you'll have to tell me about you on the way so I know what I'm getting into- he nodded with a smirk and they started walking.
The walk included laughs, smirks and staring, it was nice to spend some time together, get to know each other a little better and all of that before breakfast. Madison and Neal entered the coffee shop and sat down by the window, the waitress came and ask what did they want to drink, Madison ordered hibiscus water and Neal ordered a hot cappuccino.
-Hibiscus water, classy- Neal told Madison
-Yes it's very tasty, you should try it- she smiled and he gave it back
-So tell me, what brings you here?- he opened his hand out the window
-A dream, it has been my dream since I'm little to visit New York. And now that I've graduated college and have a stable job I decided to travel- she looked really proud by saying this, Neal took her hand in a bold move and with a smile he mumble -well, welcome to the city- she smiled back aware of his hand over hers, like it didn't matter.
