The Ocean's Orchestra

The vast blue-gray of the sea reaching out to take me into its salty arms.

As the crest falls and another rises to take its place

I long to melt in the white foam

And the depths between.

The icy chill immediately melts into warmth

As I am wrapped in a watery blanket.

Power and calm, like thunderous applause that rings in my ears,

Building to a crescendo with every ringing verse.

My thrill mounts with the tide and I am

Swept away into the velvety depths.

Like the sudden hush as a musician's hand is raised,

I am enveloped by the rippling calm.

Quiet, I sink.

My soul becomes one with the sea.

I swim in silence,  my ears deaf to the orchestra above.

The current sways in time to the conductor's hand;

Counting--

One, Two, Three, Four

One, Two, Three, Four--

I follow,

My body moves with the rhythm.

Winding through underwater caverns,

As graceful and silent as a specter,

I become lost in the waves

And the music within.
