Warning: There's a dead body in this oneshot (don't worry it's neither of our boys)"This is literally the dumbest idea we've ever come up with." Jughead sighed and shook his head as him and Archie sat in a booth at pop's, sorting through their supplies for the night.
Tonight the two boys were going to spend the night inside a supposedly haunted mental asylum. The idea had originally started off as a joke, but for some stupid reason they had decided to follow through on this risky plan. The building that they were about to enter had been around for decades, but had been recently closed off to the public due to the many reports of murders and dead bodies. Although this was incredibly dangerous they had come prepared. They had brought flashlights, their phones, and they had even made a list things they should and shouldn't do once they got in there.
"I know this is a dumb idea." Archie agreed, loading batteries into his flashlight. "Why did we decide to do this, Jug?"
"Because it's a Friday night and we're bored."
"Fair point."
Jughead checked the time for what must've been the tenth time in five minutes. It was 9:55pm. In about five more minutes Jughead and Archie would walk straight into a place that they may not return from. Even if the asylum wasn't haunted, there had been rumours that there were murderers who lurked around that area. Ruthless killers who would stab both of the boys without even thinking twice. Just the thought alone made Jughead shiver, although he tried to hide it from Archie since he didn't want to turn back now.
Clearly he wasn't doing a very good job at covering up his nerves, as Archie immediately noticed that something was wrong with Jughead. "Are you alright, Jug?" He asked with concern. "We don't have to do this, you know. We can always turn back.
"No, Archie." Jughead stared him straight in the eye. "We've come to far to turn back now. And don't worry about me... I'm fine." He mumbled the last part of his sentence, pulling the cuffs of his sleeves over his fists and turning to look at the floor.
In all honesty, Archie knew that Jughead was afraid, but he also knew that he'd never admit it. Jughead was someone who had rational fears. Nothing scared him, apart from things that could obviously kill him or that can't be explained. At this point Archie wasn't going to be able to change Jughead's mind, so all he could do was protect him. "Do you want to go through the rules one more time before we leave?" Archie asked, taking hold of Jughead's closed fists.
"Sure..." Jughead sighed.
"Rule number 1."
"No trying to get in contact with any spirits or ghosts in any way."
"Rule number 2."
" No splitting up, that's how stupid teenagers get killed in horror films."
"Rule number 3."
"Stay quiet."
"Rule number 4."
"Stay connected."
"And rule number 5."
"If anything paranormal happens... Get the hell out of there."
Archie checked the time. 10:00 pm. He took a deep breath and looked back into Jughead's nervous green eyes. "Are you ready?"
"No... Let's do this."
And at that, the two boys reluctantly got up and left the security of the lit up building of pop's diner and disappeared into the darkness of the night. They walked out of town until they approached the sinister silhouette of the asylum. In this moment, both of them realised how truly terrified they were. Their hearts started beating so much faster than they should've been, their breathing became quicker and more audible, and they could feel a cold sweat starting to trickle down their foreheads. Archie took hold of Jughead's trembling hand once more, not only to comfort his boyfriend but also to remind himself that he wasn't alone in this terrifying adventure.
