We rose bright and early, the sun was just peaking from behind the mountains. We set out as early as we could, but it took us an extra hour to catch two horses. Soon we were heading west towards Eljirkin. "How many days will it take us to get there?" I asked as I glided my hand over the short course hair of my white horse. She shook her mane in response.

"On horseback three days if we move fast," Carter answered. Well, three days with Carter! My inner voice sang. By yourself- may I add. I can practically see the wink, I deadpanned. Well you do like him sooo. .. Absolutely not, I interrupted before she could continue on with her very wishful escapades. Mhmmm Ugh I grumbled incoherent symbols. "I swear, she's gone crazy," I heard Carter mumble. Yeah, I probably have. "Why is the mountains so isolated?" I asked yet another question. He glanced at me from his dark brown horse. "Believe me when I say it's not. Its just isolated for humans." "Wait- " I let his words sink in,"do you mean supernatural creatures live here?" "In a sense," Carter answered slowly "there are humans just not many. The artine range is a haven for creatues. Here, they are not looked down on or seen differently. No matter how much you overlook humans will never accept us- them, " he quickly corrected. I frowned. "So the city we're going to- is it full of mythical creatures?" Carter nodded his head, " that's why we are going to Shelijiah she's a Warden. And can help you located where your father is. "What's a Warden?" "Someone who guards and manages magical artifacts ancient books and much more. " Carter explained. After that we ride in a comfortable silence till sundown. "Okay, we will stop here for today, no use going farther tonight especially since today's a full moon, " Carter shivered. "Why is a full moon bad," "The werewolf packs will be out tonight. So you'll be sleeping in the trees... my only concern is for the horses. They might not be here tomorrow." My eyes widened, "werewolves?" Carter nodded, " they have become scarce and usually travel by themselves now. There packs on Earth are few. " I gulped,"any other creature i should be aware of? " Carter looked thoughtful for a moment, "not really. The vampires are banned in this area." "There are vampires too? " I looked at Carter in disbelief. "Not any more, they tend to stay hidden. But some still live in Eljirkin. " I let out a shaky breath, it wasn't exactly new, but I never thought I would come so close to one. You kinda are one, my inner voice reminded me. 'Gardian of the Dragon soul's pretty important if you ask me, he's kinda the only Dragon that's roamed earth. Don't remind me,I groaned. We stopped in a small clearing with trees that towered about 80 feet. It looked pretty peaceful with the sun casting shadows from the trees. I slid off my horse and Carter took it to tie to the tree. After taking off my backpack and setting it on the ground, I rummaged through and pulled out a sleeping bag and some rope. I slung my backpack onto one shoulder, and lifted my body onto the closest branch. Skillfully, I jumped from branch to branch till I got 30 feet in the air. I glanced down at a skeptical-looking Carter. "You aren't going to get that far with so many things on you, " he said looking up at me with his head tilted. I put the rope in between my teeth "Watch' e" I said and slung my leg over the branch. Next I laid out my sleeping bag and tied the rope around my waist so if I fall I won't fall to my death. I climbed into my sleeping bag and crossed my ankles. "So.." I shouted and looked down at Carter with amusement. "What were you saying?" Carter just shook bis head and laughed. He should laugh more.. it suits him. I found myself grinning. "Are the horses secured?" "Yep," he popped the 'p '. "Well come on up then slow poke!" "No can do missy I um- Will sleep down here with the horses," he stated. I laughed," so is Carter scared if heights? " I raised an eyebrow. "No, " he said quickly. I smirked, "suit yourself then." I finished the cold rabbit meat from last night. Leaning my head onto the pack-which I was using as a pillow, I closed my eyes. So much has happened, I just hope I can find my dad- alive. I squeezed my eyes tighter. I try not to think about it but in reality I have no idea what state he was in... no matter how many times I tell myself he is doing fine. I can't bare to lose him too.. I felt myself drifting off, soon I was asleep.
