Hazel's P.O.V.

Marcel and Edmund had returned with the news that Miraz accepted Peter's request for one on one combat. Caspian went with Susan and Lucy to help them get ready to leave to search for Aslan. Peter got out his old armor and put it on when it was time for the battle to begin. I held Peter's armored hand tightly as we walked out of the entrance of the How. All of the Narnians cheered for Peter as we walked out. A twisted feeling began to form
in my stomach when I saw Miraz sitting in a chair across from us. I stopped in my tracks and Peter immediately turned towards me.

"What's wrong?" He asked me. I could feel him looking down on me, but my gaze couldn't tear away from Miraz.

"Maybe you shouldn't do this." I said so quietly that I was surprised that he actually heard me. Miraz looked up and saw me staring at him. He just shot me an evil look and I looked up at Peter, who I just realized was holding both of my arms and looking at me gently.

"We talked about this. Everything is going to be alright." He said to me gently.

"How do you know that? Maybe we shouldn't risk it." I said quietly. He sighed before placing his hand on my cheek.

"Don't worry. We'll make it through this. I promised you that we would, and I intend to keep that promise to you." He said.

I couldn't find the right words to say to him. In truth, I didn't know what to say to him. When I looked back over at Miraz, his eyes burned into Peter and I. He could see the worry in my eyes and that made him smile evilly at me. Peter moved my head to face him and he pressed his lips against my temple.

"Stay with me." He whispered against my forehead.

"Always." I whispered back to him.

He pressed his forehead against mine and smiled at me. I tried my best to smile back at him, but it wasn't the best. He hesitated turning away from me and taking my hand again. I held onto it tightly as we walked towards the opening where Peter and Miraz would face off. Caspian, Marcel, Edmund, and the Bear all watched us as we stopped in front of them. Edmund looked at the two of us hesitantly before handing me Peter's helmet. He turned towards me and his eyes never left mine as I slipped the helmet over his head. Before I even had a chance to say anything, he leaned down and kissed me one more time. I knew that it was to help comfort me, but it still made me nervous. He rubbed my hand affectionately before turning to Marcel, who had Peter's sword. Peter pulled the sword out of its' sheath and the Narnians behind us started to cheer loudly. Miraz stood up and put his helmet on his head.

"I hope you won't be too disappointed when I survive." He said to Peter as he shut his helmet and pulled out his sword. His helmet looked just like all of the other Telmarines' except it was gold.

The two kings walked into the opening and they kept their distance from each other as they walked around in a circle. I grabbed Marcel's hand tightly and he gave me an assuring squeeze as we watched Peter and Miraz glare each other down.

"There's still time to surrender." Miraz said to him.

"Well, feel free." Peter said back.

"How many must die for the throne?" Miraz asked him.

"Just one." Peter said.

He slammed his helmet shut and held his sword in his hand tightly. Miraz started to charge and Peter jumped up on a rock with one foot and pushed off. They both yelled and their swords clashed. Both armies cheered loudly as the battle began. Miraz shoved Peter with his shield and that caused him to stumble back a little bit, but Peter charged right back at him. Their swords continued to clash loudly and quickly. Peter spun around and sliced his sword along the back of Miraz's armor. Miraz cried out and hit Peter with his shield again. This time though, Peter's helmet came flying off his head and it made me jump because of how worried I was. He cried out and flipped his head back to dodge Miraz's sword coming from his face. Peter took his sword and quickly sliced Miraz's leg and blood started to trickle down. My heart was about to pound out of my chest as I watched them glare and point their swords at each other again. They both yelled out again and charged at each other. Miraz tripped Peter with his sword, and he rolled onto the ground. Before Peter could get up, Miraz stepped on Peter's shield, which caused his arm to dislocate and cry out in pain. A shaky breath escaped my lips and I gripped Marcel's hand tighter as I watched Peter roll on the ground quickly to escape all of Miraz's swings at him. Suddenly, Peter stopped rolling and Miraz tripped over him and fell on the ground. Peter stood up quickly and got his sword ready, but before the duel could continue, we heard a horse run up from beside us.
