*Kylie’s POV*
I painfully blinked my eyes open, the surroundings around me disorienting. i tried to sit up, but noticed that my wrists were bound to the railings of the hospital bed. My eyes widened in fear and I started breathing heavily, and trying to yank my wrists out of the binds, but it didn’t work.
I sighed and sank back into the bed, confused. What was going on. That’s when it all started coming back. Playing the piano, the vision on the blurry people, my bracelet like having an alarm going off, The doctors in the scary suits, Ethan hiding, and Dr.Marcus saying something about me being his experiment, and trying to get away but being pinned, and the needle being stuck into my neck.
I felt a prick in my neck just thinking about it, making me shudder, hurting my hands. I sighed and started looking around. I probably shouldn’t have been surprised that I was now in a different room.
I looked around, and felt my fear grow, which is something I thought would be impossible. Gone was the pretty pink paint, and the cartoonish paintings of Disney characters on the walls, and the pictures that Ethan had painted me hung up on the walls.
The walls were dark grey, with splotches of red, and the window to the right of my head had thick steel bars over it. I whimpered and looked to the door. There was no doorknob on the inside, and there was a thick window two-thirds of the way up the door, steel bars over that as well.
I looked around and saw that I was hooked to some weird machines, and as soon as I tried moving again some sort of alarm started going off again. I cowered into the bed as I heard footsteps echoing down the hallway, and a clanking as the door was unlocked, and a horde of the doctors in the weird suits walked in.
“Oh good. She’s finally awake!” One of them muttered, a deep voice I didn’t recognize.
The other one nodded, and took some device out of a pocket in the weird suit, and pushed some button on it, and then put it back in, giving the other a sharp nod.
“I just sent Dr.Marcus the message, he’ll be ready in the lab for her.” The other said.
They nodded and converged on me, I screamed as they started wheeling me out of the room, and I heard them grumble at the noise.
“Make her shut up!” The deep voice whined to the second one.
“Girl shut up now!” The second voice snapped, and I just kept screaming.
The second voice sighed and took another thing out of their pocket, a roll of duct tape. My eyes widened as they tore off a strip, putting it over my mouth, effectively cutting off my screams.
“There. That’s better!” The second voice muttered, and the other doctor nodded, and then proceeded to push my bed out of the room.
I blinked as I scanned the hallway. All of the doors were reinforced like mine, and the ones on the ends seemed to have several different codes to enter for it to open. As they wheeled me through the hall I realized it was like a giant cage, but instead of animals, it was built to keep people in.
I struggled with the binds once again, but they held as one of the doctors scanned a card, and pushed their thumb to some sort of scanner in the door, and then it popped open.
I shuddered as I saw what was in the room. The room was full of heavy equipment that buzzed and sparked. It all looked really scary.
The two doctors stopped wheeling my bed forward, and a horde of doctors that had been in the back of the room walked forward, all of them holding notebooks and pens and pencils.
Suddenly Dr.Marcus stepped forward, a grin on his face. He turned to the group of doctors, his own suit was clear as opposed to the rest whose were white, so I couldn't tell who they were.
"Now you see everyone this is the specimen that I was telling all of you about. She experiences visions, and my mission is to try to see how to provoke or even project these visions." He said proudly.
"What about finding some way of extracting the ability?" Another doctor asked from the crowd.
I shuddered at the word "extract" I'm not sure what it means, but it sure doesn't sound very fun!
"Oh yes!" Dr.Marcus jumped around enthusiastically. "That is the main goal of our tests and experiments. We would like to find out why she is the way she is, and a way to maybe draw out her ability and replicate it."
All of the other doctors applauded furiously and Dr.Marcus bowed annoyingly.
"Okay now for our first demonstration, we will see if introducing her brain to electric shocks have any effect on the visions, and if they maybe help set them off."
Dr.Marcus's audience nodded excitedly, chatting in enthused voices as a smaller figure in one of the suits came up, wheeling a scary looking machine with them.
"Now these" Dr. Marcus grabbed these two weird sticker thingys that had wired attached to them, "Are electrodes that we will attach to the specimen's temples, and it will record the results both in the bracelet she is wearing, which is hyper-sensitive to unusual brain activity, and in the master computer as well."
The doctors nodded and spoke apprecitively, and I cowered and tried to fight as the smaller figure moved to attatch the weird sticker thingys to my head.
"NOO!!!" I screeched in terror, and the smaller figure grabbed my bound handand squeezed it as they attached the sticker thingys to my head. Something about it reminded me of someone, but it couldn't be.
Before I could think too much about it Dr.Marcus hit a button on the machine, and I felt my body twitch as the sensation of being hit by lightening hit, the only thing I could see was stars, and all I could feel was white hot pain all over my body.
After a while it ceased, and all of the doctors muttered disappointedly as I continued to shake, the pain still present as Dr.Marcus ordered the smaller figure to push me out of the room. It was silent besides my gasps of pain as the figure pushes me back into the cell-like room.
There's silence as I try to stop shaking, and I'm suprised when the figure grabs my hand and squeezes it again.
"I'm so sorry." The figure in the suit mutters before the turn to leave, and I feel my jaw drop. I had definitely recognized that voice.
It was Jane.
