*Taylor’s POV*
I managed to follow a doctor into what I nicknamed the prison hall in the hospital and once again changed into the hazmat suit and visited Kylie, because I had promised that I wouldn’t abandon her, and I was going to keep that promise no matter what.
Once I got into the hall I was just beginning to wonder how I was going to get into the room when I saw a doctor in a matching hazmat suit walking toward Kylie’s cell door from the opposite side of the hallway carrying a tray of disgusting looking food.
I sped up and then tried to stand as nonchalantly as I could near the door as the doctor scanned their card and walked into the room, and I heard them slam the tray down, as they sauntered out of the room I tried to make it look like I was glancing at the charts that were pinned up on the walls.
As soon as the doctor turned their back I stuck my hand out and stopped the door from closing, holding in my yelp of pain as I caught some of the momentum. I just shook my hand out and ducked through the door.
I tried to look through the mask of the hazmat suit, but the stupid thing restricts your sight so much! I quickly glanced through the barred window on the door and slid off the mask.
I turned around and gently shook Kylie’s arm. Her eyes fluttered open, and I let out a sharp gasp. I had been so intent on waking her up that I hadn't taken much time to actually get a good look at her.
It was like she had deteriorated over night! Her face was a sickly yellow, and her eyes were sunken in, the area around and under them so dark purple that it looked like she was bruised. The normal burn marks on her temples were an angry red, standing out even more so than usual, and the injection site on her neck where the doctor injected that serum yesterday was swollen and a pitch black.
Her eyes were blood-shot and slightly glazed over looking as her gaze locked on mine, her eyes filled with pain.
“What is it?” She asked, sounding surprised that I was here, her voice gravely and filled with pain.
“You look… you look terrible.” I burst out, I immediately clapped my hand over my mouth, instantly feeling guilty that I had said that out loud.
“Yeaaah. I feel weird.”She said, and I felt my heart break when her voice broke, as if that sentence caused her even more pain.
“Oh baby. I’m going to get you out of here, the sooner the better.” I said, brushing the locks of blonde hair that were stuck to her forehead in front of her eyes as gently as I could.
“Yeah.. but you would need lots of help.” She said softly, her voice almost inaudible as she lost the fight to keep her eyes open.
I felt determination and fury rise up. This was despicable, and I wasn’t going to let them hurt her anymore. If it’s the last thing I do I’m getting her out of here.
“Well then I’ll get lots of help. I’m getting you out of here baby.” I muttered, knowing that she was already asleep, but the corners of her mouth twitched up as if she had heard me.
As she slept I turned to see if anyone was coming and accidentally nudged a stack of CDs and DVDs. I smiled when I saw mine on the top, and I flipped through. There was The Band Perry, Florida Georgia Line, Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert, Reba, Kacey Musgraves, Brad Paisley, Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson, a single CD for Lindsay Ell, and a bunch of DVDs starring Jennifer Lawrence. I smiled loving each of those people myself.
Not long after that I heard some banging around in the hallway, and I knew that it was time to go. I squeezed her hand one last time and fought all of my instincts telling me not to leave her.
I peered out the door, and quickly dashed out the door, and out of the hallway. I took of the hazmat suit and tucked it into my bag again and I used the same exit I had used yesterday. As I drove all I could think of was how much sicker she looked.
I couldn’t help but wonder why. I mean I know with the shock treatments, and the injection of the serum…. wait the serum!! That’s the only explanation! I felt a grim determination settle over me, knowing that they would keep injecting her with it, and if I didn’t figure out a way to get her out of there soon it could kill her.
I bit my lip as I drove, trying to think of a plan. But every time I thought of something Kylie's warning would come into my head that I'd need a lot of help.
I sighed and closed the car door behind me in disgust. I stomped up to my apartment, slamming the door behind me. I sank into the couch frustrated. Why couldn't I think of anything?!
That's when it hit me. All of those CD's and DVDs gave me an odd idea. If she had seen me in a vision, maybe she'd seen them too...
That thought sparked an idea in my head and I frantically began typing on my phone. I read the message over a few times, and once I was satisfied with what I had I sent it out to the many recipients.
Please let this work. I thought as I patted Meredith when she climbed into my lap. It was our only chance.
I tapped my foot impatiently, and soon my phone started beeping insistently and I saw that almost all of them had responded. I sent them the address and fidgeted as I waited, hoping that I could convince them all to help.
They were the only people I could think of who could help me pull this off.
