~ (y/n)'s P.O.V. ~
I watched as Delilah finished her last few stitches on Tommy, then she gently wrapped Tommy's wound with her medical gauze. When she put her supplies away, she looked back at us.
"That should do it." Tommy nodded, grimacing at he sat up. Jorge stepped forward.
"As much as I hate it, we have to keep going. If the people haven't noticed the other Cranks missing, they will soon." Newt frowned, crossing his arms.
"But Tommy-" Tommy waved Newt off.
"It's okay. I'm okay. We can keep going. We've lost enough people I don't need the rest of you dying because of me." I looked around, realizing Tommy was right. Our group was down by half its original size. Newt picked me up as Minho and Frypan came to help Tommy.
"We can't carry you like (y/n), but we can help support you." Tommy nodded, wincing as they leaned him up, then we were on our way.

The sun was high in the sky and we had left the town far behind us. I huddled close to Newt, feeling sweat drip down on my face as I looked around.
"Has you seen Aris recently?" I asked out loud, it dawning me that he had been quiet most of our time in the Scorch. Newt turned, looking around.
"No, but I could've sworn he was there when Delilah was patching up Tommy. He was one of the people to originally carry him out." I huffed, looking around again.
"But he wouldn't just... slip away would he?" Newt shook his head, then shrugged.
"Seems like the dumbest idea to me, but maybe he did. He might not have felt like he fit in with us as well as we thought he might." I nodded, looking forward to Brenda. She was beside Jorge, the way she stalked forward suggested she was pissed off, but I ignored it. She seemed mad most of the time I had known her.
"Is Tommy okay?" Newt nodded, looking behind us.
"He seems alright. He's just-" Newt abruptly stopped talking and moving when he looked forward again. His eyebrows furrowed as he moved to the front of the group.
"What? What is it?" Newt stopped at the front of the group, frowning.
"There's a group of... girls? They're walking to us." I looked forward, seeing what Newt said was true. A sizable group of girls was walking towards us. I felt my eyes widen as my eyes landed on the girl who was leading the group.
"Holy shuck. Is that-" Newt nodded.
"It's Teresa. That must be Group B." I looked to Tommy who was now beside us. Neither Minho or Frypan was supporting him, but he appeared to be holding himself up fine. The group of girls stopped a few feet away from us.
"Put (y/n) on the ground in front of you, or we shoot." Teresa voice was cold and demanding. She pulled a small gun from her waist and I felt myself still, remembering Gally when we escaped the Maze.
"What the hell, Teresa? What are you-" Teresa fired a shot into the air, silencing Minho.
"Do it!" Her gun pointed back down to us.
"Newt, just do it." I whispered. "I'll be fine." Newt hesitated, biting his lip, then he walked forward and put me down. Teresa turned to two of the girls, gesturing to me. The two girls walked forward and stood by me.
"Hand over Thomas and no one gets hurt." The group was silent. I swallowed, feeling the sand sift through my fingers. "Do it or (y/n) gets it." I looked at the group, shaking my head. Newt's face was twisted in anger as he stood with the group.
"Don't you dare even think of giving up Tommy." I yelled at the boys. They looked amongst themselves, still keeping quiet. Teresa looked to the girls that stood at my side.
"Go ahead." They looked at me hesitantly.
"Teresa, she already can't wa-" Teresa pointed the gun to us.
"I said do it!" The girl to my left pulled her spear from her back and pointed the end of it towards my bandaged leg. She pulled the spear back, getting ready to hit my leg, but I grabbed the wood of the spear, pulling hard. The spear slid out of the girl's hold, the head of the spear slipping through her hands and slicing across her palms. The girl cried out in surprise as I took the spear, hitting once at her legs. She stumbled back, falling into the sand, looking at the rest of her group.
I felt arms wrap under my arms pulling me up. I held the spear across my body, slamming my head back into hers. The girl dropped me to the ground with a cry. I turned, holding the spear in front of me as the girl went to punch me. Her punch split the spear in half. She pulled back, holding her hand close to her chest. From behind, the wood of a spear was put across my neck and I was brought up onto my feet.
"I'll say it one last time. (y/n) gets it if Thomas isn't handed over." I shook my head as the spear's hold was tightened against my neck. I watched as two girls went to help the first girl I had pushed down. Tommy took a step forward, looking at me, hands out as if in surrender. I grasped my hands around the wood of the spear, tugging hard with my weight, making me and the girl fall forward. She let out a yelp as the spear slipped from her grasp. I winced, letting out a small groan when she landed on me, but she quickly rolled off. I turned over, regaining my breath quickly as I scoot away from the girls and held the spear in front of me.
"No more surprises. No one is going anywhere. The boys won't fight you because you're girls and they don't want to hurt you. I don't want to hurt you either, but I will kick your ass if you even think about touching my family." Teresa frowned, aiming her gun at me while giving the group a pointed look. "Go ahead Teresa, shoot. Remember what happened to Gally when we escaped?" Teresa sighed, looking irritated as she put her gun down.
"Then maybe we can work together." I scoffed.
"Work together? You want us to work together after what just happened? You just had some girls try to injure me."
"Yes, I do want to work with you. We all have the same mission anyway. Get to the Safe Place for the cure."
I felt someone gently pick me up from under my arms, supporting me as I stood. I looked back, seeing Tommy with a determined look on his face.
"We'll do it. We'll work with you." I looked back at Newt, he had a frown on his face, but he shrugged at me as he walked to me and Tommy, helping support me. I looked back to the group of girls. Some were looking at me with conflicted looks on their faces, others were glaring. I sighed. This was going to be an interesting journey.
