emerson knocked on the door of tom's apartment with tears in her eyes. tom opened th door and pulled her in for a hug. "it's ok, em. i'm here, you're gonna be ok." he whispered into her hair.

emerson squeezed him as tight as she could; she didn't want to let him go. "why don't you tell me what happened." tom said.

"okay." em said, pulling back from the hug. tom wiped her tears away and kissed her forehead. she smiled at him and followed him to the living room.

tom sat down and patted the seat beside him so that emerson would sit next to him. she did and tom wrapped his arm around her in a comforting manner. "remember hunter?" she said. tom rolled his eyes and responded.

"yeah, what happened?" he asked.

"well, it's kind of a long story." emerson said. "and i think it might hurt you."

"babe, nothing could steer me away from you." tom said. "i promise." emerson nodded but she still felt very nervous. telling the guy she likes about the boy she used to have sex with, wasn't going to go over well.

"okay, um, well, remember when you were gonna pick me up but i was at hunter's?" emerson asked.

"yeah." tom said.

"that's because i had spent the night there." em said.

"i kind of figured." tom said, rolling his eyes again. he was just glad that she was laying on his shoulder so she couldn't see him.

"maybe i shouldn't tell you this." em said, standing up. tom grabbed her hand and turned her around.

"just tell me. it's ok."

"hunter and i were - well, we were -"

"fuck-buddies?" tom said. emerson sighed and sat down again.

"yeah." she said. "i'm so sorry. you don't deserve this. you deserve better than me."

"listen to me, you are the only thing i need in my life. you are absolutely perfect in my eyes." tom said.

"god, you are incredible." emerson said. "a-and i want you to know that it's completely over. we made a deal that we would stop if one of us fell for someone else."

"you fell for me?" tom asked.

"yeah, i think i did." she said. tom smiled and placed his lips to her's.
