I was stalking outside our cave, looking for something to eat. My father annoyed at the last time I had books hadn't given me anything to eat for about 6 days. I was closing in on a large kangaroo, when a truck skidded to a stop in the valley next to us. The noise scared my lunch away. Annoyed, I snuck over to the truck, seeing the most confusing sight.
Three men walked out, the middle one carrying a young female, who was tied up and gaged, which was strange. Humankind were harming themselves, which would have made my father happy. Me, on the other hand, felt pity. The female struggled to break free, with no luck. Pity turned to guilt. Guilt turned to anger. The urge to do something, to help her, or to even draw them away, proved too much. And I can't believe what I did next.
Without thinking I leapt towards the first man, smacking him down with my tail, then slashing him with my claws, I then sent a plasma ball at the second man, which on impact sent his remains flying. I slowly approached the last man, holding the girl. He dropped her, and tried to run. When he did I pounced on him, staring face to face before letting out a loud shriek, causing him to lose conciseness. He cured my hunger pains. The anger left me as I walked over to girl, who had so much fear I could practically smell it. She shook and wriggled enough to remove the gag, before whimpering "please don't hurt me"
That response to what I just did, confused me. I saved her I just rescued her from three kidnapers, and she thought I was going to hurt her...
"Now why would I want to do that?" I said, genuine compassion in my voice, she tensed as I spoke fluent English "I just went through all the trouble to save you"
What I said caused her to relax a little, although she still looked at me strangely. "Hold still" I said, as I used my talons to cut her bonds. After I cut her free, she let out a quiet "thank you. I've been tied up for hours" before slowly standing up.
She stood up and looked around, before looking towards me with a worried look. "Where am I..." she asked, trying not to maintain eye contact. I felt something interesting, something I've never felt before... sympathy. "Your out near Sydney" I said, grinning, although I stopped when she went pale.
"But I live in Melbourne..." she trailed of, before looking around frantically. "How am I going to get home!" She yelled, looking very distressed. I thought for a minute, before lowering my wing and saying "Hop on"
