Anabeth’s PoV:
Here we were. Out of one hellhole going into another. Percy and I had just got out of Tartarus and we were still
heading to possible death and terrible pain. We were standing n the deck of the Argo II, sailing towards our so-called “great-grandma”. There was nothing great about her. Unless if you count the fact that she owns the whole entire earth. But I didn’t care. I was way too happy right now to even worry about the future. If I had only known what would happen… I would have turned around right and then and there.
Percy’s PoV:
Sailing, with Annabeth on the ArgoII, with all of my friends. That made me really happy. The salty wind whipped my face and I had that amazing feeling that I always get when I’m sailing. I was just so relieved to finally be out of Tartarus. I was safe, Annabeth was safe, and so was everyone else. I was way too joyful to be afraid that I might die because I was blessed with an extremely angry great-grandmother who wanted to sacrifice me. Thanks, I feel so appreciated, I thought.
But did I think about all that? No way. It was a way too beautiful day and I was with all my friends, most importantly Annabeth.
“You better be listening seaweed brain, this is important stuff if we want to put her back to sleep,” Annabeth told me.
“I know, I know. Go on. Tell us everything there is to know about our very nice, Earthly grandma who wants us all dead,” I replied.
“Just shut up and listen. Well, we need to figure out a way to put Gaea back to sleep.”
“ That’s pretty obvious,” Frank mumbles and Annabeth shoots him a death glare. Note to self: Never ever get on Annabeth’s bad side.
“What if we just give her some sleeping pills and then we wait for her to nod off? Eh, so who likes this plan?” Leo said smiling at everyone. Everybody looked at him like he was crazy, which he probably was.
“Ok, I managed to get some books on Gaea in Greek Mythology from a library and I read them through I’ll summarize it for you.” Annabeth said.
She started talking about Gaea. She had woken several times before, but the other demigods had managed to put her back to sleep. There had been really ingenious ways of putting her to sleep, others were just plain stupid. One demigod even claimed that he had sung a lullaby and put her to sleep. She must have been really young when that happened, I think.
“There was also a very powerful daughter of Aphrodite who put her to sleep using her charm-speak,” Annabeth states. All eyes turn to Piper.
“What? Wait, you guys can’t think I’m THAT good. I mean I was barely able to keep a magic cage from eating up Hera, what am I supposed to do for the oldest Goddess on Earth? Because I don’t think that a lullaby is gonna work…” Piper says.
“Ok fine, any other ways to do this?” Jason asks.
“Well there is one way…but never mind…”Annabeth says unsteadily.
“C’mon Annabeth tell us. What is it?” Leo asks. I nod at her encouragingly, trying to push her into telling us.
“Fine, but I really don’t think this one is going to work,” she replies slowly.
“Awww, please tell us Annabeth, please, please, please!!!” I say doing my best puppy-dog face. Piper leans in and whispers in Annabeths ear and she bursts out giggling. I just pout some more and then…
“Fine I’ll tell you. Here goes.” she said as we waited in silence for our last option to put our grandma back to sleep.
