Percy’s PoV:

“And if that doesn’t work then we really need to get some sleeping pills,” Leo said as everybody gave him and are-you-serious look. “What?” he says throwing up his hands. “Just saying.”

“I think that will be our back-up plan. Like if we don’t get a good plan then we turn to the sleeping pills idea,” I say. “Or we can do the lullaby.”

“I never thought you’d say something so smart,” Annabeth mumbled to herself slowly.

“Hey!” I exclaim as everyone bursts out laughing, and I can’t help but smile a bit.

“But I still don’t think that sleeping pills will work. I mean how will we force her to take them? And how many sleeping pills do we need?”

“Whatever, but I say we go with that. Piper can help us with her charm-speak and we’ll just buy as pills as we can,” says Hazel.

“Ok, you guys get some sleep I’ll take first watch,” Annabeth tells us. I go down to my cabin but I don’t think that I’ll get any sleep tonight, what with all the stuff that was buzzing around my head. True love? That’s how we stop Gaea? That doesn’t make sense. None of this does, I think. Then there were the nightmares. Horrid, terrible nightmares that disturbed my sleep every single night. But as soon as my head touches the pillow I pass out. This night I dream that I’m back in Tartarus (no surprise there). I was so, so close to doors of Death. I was supporting Annabeth because of her broken ankle. I could see all my friends shouting at me to move faster. But then some monsters that looked similar to harpies attacked us. They were really smart. Somehow they managed to get Annabeth away from me.

“Let’s introduce her to our master, eh?” they snarled at me.

I was screaming and shouting at them to let her go, all this while they bound me up.

“Oh shut up, why don’t you?” one of them said to me in a horrible, raspy voice.

“Oh, master, we have a gift for you!” They started saying, repeating it all over again and again, like a strange chant. I looked over to Annabeth. She wasn’t doing well; her eyes were wide and wild like a cornered animal. Then out of nowhere a huge Hellhound appears. It wasn’t a normal one, it was WAY bigger.

“What do we have here?” he asked.

“LET HER GO NOW!!!!!” I screamed desperately. Annabeth was too scared to move she was just sitting there staring at the huge creature.

“Don’t worry I’ll spare you, Son of Poseidon. You would do a much better sacrifice than a lowly Daughter of Athena,” he said snarling. He stared at me with his two huge eyes and I felt all the energy in me seeping out of me, he was somehow taking all my energy, with his eyes.

“No!!! No, no, n-no…” I didn’t even have enough energy left to shout.

“Now, don’t worry I’ll leave you enough energy to let you see her die,” he said evilly. He went up to her and kept to his word he left me just enough to keep my eyes open as he started tearing her apart.

“No, no…” was all I managed before I blacked out.

That’s when I woke up.
