Percy’s PoV:

The pain in my stomach was all I could feel right now. In fact, it cleared my head a bit. I could see and hear again. But my stomach still felt as if it were set on fire. That’s when I heard her voice.

“NOOOOOOOO!!!!! WHY PERCY, WHY?????!!!!!!!!!” Annabeth shouted me.

“I had to save you…” I said slowly. I looked down at the knife in my stomach. I can see the blood seeping through my shirt. For some reason, I’m strangely calm. “Besides I was already dying, so there was no point in killing another sacrifice.”

“What is this? What are you doing?” I had already forgotten all about Gaea. But when I look at her she’s already dying. Well not really dying but like crumbling into dust.

“You will pay, Percy Jackson…” is all I hear from her before she turns to nothing but earth. I remember what Annabeth said on the boat. Love… that’s what happened. I saved the one I love from certain death so now Gaea’s defeated, I thought. In a flash Annabeth was next to me, holding my hand.

“Annabeth, there’s one thing I want to say, the last words that I want to say to you,” I coughed again.

“Percy don’t say that, we’ll heal you it’ll be okay…” I got the feeling she was trying to convince herself more than me.

“Please Annabeth just listen, I don’t have a lot of time. I need to tell you, that I love you. I love the way your eyes sparkle. The way you smile. The way that, just by walking into the room you can make me feel better. The way you helped me get through Tartarus. The way you did everything for me. So I want to say these words to you…”

Annabeth’s PoV:

“… I love you, Wisegirl,” he said. I didn’t know what to say.

“I love you too Seaweed Brain,” I said. “That’s why you can’t leave me. I need you Percy I need you, please don’t leave me. I love you too.” I felt the tears falling down my cheeks. I leaned in and pressed my lips against his. One kiss, probably the last before he dies.

“I love you too, Seaweed Brain,” I say, not being able to stop the flow of tears from my face. He reaches up and brushes my cheek with the back of his hand. Then his eyes become unfocused, and his hand drops to the ground as I look into his eyes, those cold, lifeless eyes. His last smile still fixed on his face. Hot tears make their way down my cheeks. I look up to see Frank, Jason and Leo looking down; I see their eyes tear up. Hazel tries but fails to stop crying, but Piper won’t hide it. She kneels down to me and wraps her arms around me.

“I’m so sorry Annabeth, I’m so sorry. It’ll be ok,” She says hugging me. I just cry. And cry. And cry. It’s a good thing we’re looking down because all of a sudden there are about 12 giant flashes of light.

On Olympus:

The gods were staring intently at the Iris-Message. Even if they didn’t know it, their children were being watched by their parents on Olympus.

“We have to do something! We can’t just stand here, and watch!” Poseidon said to Zeus.

“My orders are simple brother, we stand here and watch,” Zeus answered calmly.

“Even though it means agreeing with barnacle beard, I must say that it is impractical to sit here and watch,” Athena says.

“Did she finally agree with something I said?” Poseidon mumbled to Hades. (A/N: I know Hades doesn’t come to Olympus, only for the Winter solstice but he’s here right now because of the battle.)

“Sure sounded like it,” Hades whispered back.

“Yeah!! A little action!!” Ares shouted. Everyone turned to watch, horrified as Percy stood up for Annabeth and get ripped up. Poseidon visibly paled.

“Percy… what are you doing to yourself?” Poseidon mumbled to no one in particular.

Hera looked sympathetically towards Poseidon. Being the goddess of family, she knew how much Percy meant to Poseidon.

“Oh wow…” Ares mumbled. Every god stared at the screen as Annabeth cut through every monster there was. Athena was staring with her mouth wide open at her daughter.

“That’s Annabeth? Wow…”

“Holy Hephaestus!! Did you se that?”

“What in Tartarus just happened?”

“Never get in a fight with Annabeth!!”

All these comments went around the throne room. All except for Poseidon who was staring at the IM his face paler than Hades’ muttering Percy’s name over and over again.

“Everyone, look,” Hestia said pointing to the IM. Annabeth was making her way towards the altar.

“No, Annabeth!!” Athena shouted. Then the weirdest thing happened. Percy got up, saw what was happening, ran and jumped over Annabeth, protecting her body with his own. All the gods gasped.

“No this isn’t happening,” Poseidon buried his head in his hands. They saw Gaea crumbling to dust. Annabeth didn’t even seem to care, she only saw Percy.

“-I love you. I love the way your eyes sparkle. The way you smile. The way that, just by walking into the room you can make me feel better. The way you helped me get through Tartarus. The way you did everything for me. So I want to say these words to you, I love you Wisegirl,” they heard him say through the IM. Then there was a sniffle. Every god turned to see Aphrodite crying quietly. But even the other gods couldn’t stop themselves from tearing up. Ares said that he just got something in his eye. They turned back to the IM.

“I love you too, Seaweed Brain,” she answered. He smiled at her and brushed away her tears but then his hand went slack. It hit the floor, cold and unmoving.

“That’s it. Banish me to Tartarus for disobeying your stupid rules, brother, but that’s my dead son there,” Poseidon said angrily towards Zeus, and disappeared in a flash of light. Athena walked up to Zeus.

“I have always respected you father but right now I’m going to say it to your face. That was idiotic. We could have helped our children but you decide to not let us. So now I’m going to go see my daughter…”

“I’m with Athena,” Aphrodite said. “I’m going to try and mend Annabeth’s broken heart.” They both disappeared in a flash of light. Hera stomps up to Zeus who visible cringes in the glare from Hera.

“I even had their wedding planned,” is all she says before she too, disappears in a flash of light.

“What can we do? They are right you know…” Hades goes too.

“I just lost an awesome cousin dad. What can I say?” Apollo says.

“Apollo’s right. Percy was a great person.” Hermes and Apollo leave as well.

“He was the most courageous man I’ve ever met,” Artemis leaves as well. Zeus sighs and disappears along with the rest of the Gods, to find Annabeth and Piper holding each other and crying their eyes out over the dead boy lying there.

“A shroud for a son of Poseidon,” Jason’s voice cracks.
