13: High School - Reborn

Annabeth’s PoV:

Those horrible nightmares. I wouldn’t be able to wake up with Percy to calm me down. I wouldn’t be able to wake up and hear his voice, soothing me. I wouldn’t ever be able to feel right, ever again. I was broken. Good for nothing. But I forced myself, to move, to wake up, to dress, eat breakfast. Just for him. I knew that he would want me to move on but I wouldn’t be able to. I would never ever meet another Percy Jackson. There would always be that horrible cavity in my heart. So I went into the throne room. Where everyone was gathered.

“We have decided that you have had too much of this,” Athena said. “Being a demigod, fighting monsters, it’s a hard life. So we have decided to give you a normal life. You will be going to high school.” The whole room was silent. You could hear a pin drop. High school? I hadn’t been to school since I was seven.

“Whoah, whoah, whoah, wait up. High School?” Leo said the word high school as if it were alien or something. 

“Of course. You need a normal life. To move on,” Aphrodite eyed me. I just looked down, repesting in my head again and again. I will not cry, I will not cry, I will not cry.

“Since no one objects you may go to your mansion already, Zeus says.

“Wait-” Leo starts but is cut off when we arrive in a beautiful mansion. The architecture is amazing. We each go to our own rooms. For some reason there’s an extra door on our corridor. Well nevermind because next thing I know I’m in the room and all I’m thinking is Wow. I couldn’t believe it. Amazing grey walls, and a beautiful king-sized bed with an owl headboard. For just one second, I forget about Percy, just that one tiny millisecond before it comes crashing down on top of me again. I climb in to bed, still fully clothed and cry myself to sleep, again.

Percy’s PoV:

When she said that I was the happiest person on earth.

“I love you too seaweed brain.” I couldn’t believe it. She loved me too. I reached up to wipe away her tears, when I felt myself falling, and falling through the ground.

“Nice to see you again, Perseus Jackson,” said Charon. “Got any drachmas on you? Otherwise you wait here with the rest.”

Surprisingly I have a bag of drachmas in my pocket. Probably my dad helping me out. I take out the bag and give it to him

“Oh goody!! This one gets first in line too!!” he says excitedly.

He rows me across the river and to the gates. He pushes me in front of other ghosts. For some reason, death isn’t bothering me at all. In fact, I feel quite light, and carefree. I see my old friend, Cerberus.

“Hey man how’s it going? They treating you well?’’ I ask him he just barks back in reply. Charon still pushes me in front of everyone and in front of the three judges.

“Well go on then! Judge him!!” he says.

“Hmmmmm… died to save the one he loves, yes very romantic…” the middle one says.

“You and your Romance, Shakespeare,” says the one on the left.

“Will you ever shut up, Franklin?” says the middle one exasperatedly.

“Oh come one!! He died to save another you know protocol!! Elysium for him.” Says the right one.

“Wait,” I say slowly, an idea forming in my mind. “Can I exchange Elysium?”

“What would you want that’s better than Elysium?” the right one asks. Annabeth, I think but I don’t say it out loud.

“Reincarnate me. I want to be reborn, but same as last, same age, all my memories,” I say.

“We can’t have you reborn exactly the same…”

“Well make me a year older!”

“Okay… but we can’t give you your memories back immediately it’ll take some time…”

“That’s ok, just send me back!!” I say.

“Are you sure? Elysium would be much better…”

“Please!! I need to get back to Annabeth!!” I scream at them.

 “Oh let’s do it please?” says the middle one.

“I thought all love stories were supposed to have sad endings, Shakespeare?” said the left one.

“Ah SHUT UP ALREADY!!!”says Shakespeare. “I say we do this.”

“Very well. Goodbye Percy Jackson. I hope you know what you’re doing." Then there was a bright white flash of light and then, I forgot.
