Chapter Twenty-Two

Alec was acting strange all night. We were having dinner and I couldn't take it anymore.

Dropping my cutlery on the plate which caught his attention, I asked. "Alec, what is it?"

"What do you mean?" He asked nervously.

"Don't play dumb, we both know you're not."

He let out a deep sigh.

"I have a surprise for you."

"What is it?"

"Let's finish dinner and I'll show you."

Now I was anxious to see what it was.

After dinner, he drove us around but before we got to where we were heading he insisted on blind folding me.

He drove for a few more minutes before we stopped. He helped me out of the car and we walked for a while. We took a elevator at some point then I had jingling of keys before he walked me through a door.

He then wrapped his arms around my waist and told me to take off the blindfold. We were in an apartment. No, a pent house. It was huge. I moved away from him and further into the living room and that's when I saw it. It was baby proofed!

There was a play pen at one end of the room.

"Come." he said as he took my hand and led me out the living room. We walked down one corridor and he opened up a room. It was a nursery and it had an adjoining door to another room. I didn't know what to say.

"Alec." I said turning towards him. "What's all this?"

"I bought the place. It's bigger than your apartment now with Fran and the baby. I want you to move in her. With me." He rumbled as he rubbed his neck nervously.

I had to agree with him. My apartment here in New York was nothing compared to our home back in L.A. I thought back to Fran's little talk earlier and I had to ask.

"Did Fran know about this?"

"Yes she did." He said with a chuckle.

I turned back to look at the room and I could already picture it.

"So? What do you say?"

I turned to meet his gaze before looking down.

"Yes." I whispered.

"Yes?" He moved closer.

"Yes." I repeated. I was airborne the next moment as Alec spun me round.

When he placed me back on my feet, he looked like a kid on Christmas morning.

"Come on." He then pulled me towards the adjoining door that led to what would be our room. From what I could tell, he'd already moved in. He was just waiting for me.

As I looked around he walked over to the windows and pulled back the curtain. It has floor to ceiling windows and I was mesmerized. It was a clear night and the stars were out. We were high enough for the city lights to not distract the sky's beauty.

It was then that I noticed the blanket on the floor with a bottle of wine and glasses on the side.

I kicked off my shoes as Alec did the same. We dropped onto the blanket and he poured us both a glass of wine. We then settled down to look at the sky.

"Well that was easy." He said with a sigh and for the first time this night he visibly relaxed.

"Yes it was." I giggled.
