Chapter 9: Bitter-Sweet Much?
My alarm clock interrupted my dreams. "Ugh," I sighed as I got up from bed.
"You have school?" Jacob mumbled in his pillow beside mine.
"Uh...my alarm buzzed. So, yeah," I answered confidently.
"Dumbo! Today's Sunday!" he squinted. "Fine, if you wanna go then go. Life's peaceful in here when you're not around."
Hot raging blood rushed through my cheeks. I was about to hit him with my slippers but then I remembered something. We had to clean the house today. Shuffling inside my bathroom, dressing up and did all the morning routine, I was done. Jacob was still in bed. Instead of him fixing breakfast, I decided to do it this time. With the hands I inherited from my mom, I made waffles in a jiffy and two chocolates for the both of us. I was done when I saw Jacob half naked in front of me while I was polishing my My Melody spoon and fork. The nerve of this guy!
"Go put your clothes on!" I waved my hand.
"I don't wanna," he sat on the chair across me. "I'll eat first!"
"Tsk," I took my plate with two waffles and my hot chocolate. I went to my living room and ate neatly there, carefully trying not to spill anything.
"Hey! What do you think you're doing!" he yelled across the room.
"Eating!" I yelled back with few bits of food in my mouth.
"This is ridiculous!" I heard him sigh in the kitchen. And then I heard his chair groan against the floor.
"I change my mind, I've decided to watch tv," he sat beside me on the coffee table. He turned on the tv.
We ate noisily because of my consistent yelling at him, telling him to not scatter bits of food around the area. And also because of him teasing me that I looked like a squirrel when I have food in my mouth and he kept on pinching them. We also laughed out loud because of a comedy show he switched. One hour has passed as we finish washing our dishes.
Gathering all my cleaning equipments, I instructed him to clean the second floor while I clean downstairs. He went up without hesitation, actually when I told him to clean upstairs, his eyes lit up. Weirdo as ever! The living room was a mess! I started cleaning. Eww, is this rotten pizza?! Gross!

I went inside Sam's room and dropped the cleaning equipments she handed me. Everytime Sam goes to school, I sometimes sneak in here to take a nap but I never looked or touched anything in her girly study table...until now. I smiled mischievously and situated myself on her pink feathery computer chair. My butt felt very comfortable. A Hello Kitty calendar caught my attention. Tomorrow is the start of December. It is also marked with a birthday cake. Tomorrow's Sam's birthday. My body gave me an undescribable feeling, just the super fast beating of my heart. I've gotta get her a present. I put my hand over my eyes and rubbed it. Luckily, yesterday's disguise was just hung on Sam's coat hanger along with her other coats and hats. I put them on and escaped through her window. Good thing also, this is just a two-storey apartment. I jumped. I ran.

A lot of hours had passed because it was already dusk. It says so in the clock and the scenery outside. Got to think of it, I guess Jacob was a quiet cleaner. He still didn't stop cleaning after these hours. Right now, the living room was sparkling. The kitchen is like brand new. Even the storage room was cleaner than before. A sweat trickled down to my cheek from my bandana. Removing the headphone from my ears, I fixed my braid. Well, time to go up and see what Jacob has finished. I opened my room and found it normal. Jacob was panting. My room has never been dirty anyway. And what I could expect from a STAR anyway.
"You didn't do anything, did you?" I put my hands on my hips.
"I-I d-id," he said between breaths.
"You've barely clean this place and you're panting?" I raised my eyebrow. "Overly dramatic much?"
He threw me a rug that almost hit my face that my hand caught immediately. "I said I cleaned!"
I looked at the rug and saw a black spot there. "Eh?"
"I wiped it on your coat hangers. See? I cleaned," he walked out.
"So cold," I said inside my head. I checked my bathrooms and both are dirty. I stretched my neck sidewards and started picking up my cleaning equipments. I cleaned the bathroom in my room as fast as I can and then I went straight to the other bathroom. That guy should've at least helped me.
"Ei," he called out from the doorway. His arm resting on the door.
"Hi,"
He got near me and placed his hand on both of my shoulder. The other free hand had a handkerchief. He used it to wipe my perspiration on my forehed. After he did that, he said, "You can do it! Clean clean clean!" His hand was balled into a fist when he said, "Clean clean clean!" And so he went to the door again and waved at me before leaving. My mind was shooting me thoughts like, I was half expecting he would help me. Or maybe could have surprised me with something. Oh no, I'm getting used to it. Gosh! I don't know anymore! I continued scrubbing instead.

Leaning behind the door, I watched her work diligently. Watching her is like earning a million hits in a movie I star at. I don't know why I feel that way about her. I just don't know how to express myself better. Anyway, I bought a birthday present for her. I can't wait for tomorrow. "Oh Sam! Why do you make me feel this way?" I thought. And I continued watching her.
