If only I could have brought him with me, everything would be better. I wouldn't have done the things that I regret.

Newt was lying in the dark, thinking about how he could escape. WICKED was smart, but he knew how to get out of things. Newt knew there'd be cameras everywhere, but it didn't matter. "Poor Charlie's probably scared to death about what's happening. What if they're torturing her? Why am I feeling so weird when I'm around her? Why do she feel so special to me? Why do I care about her?"

The door creaked open, showing a tiny bit of light from the outside. "Newt?" asked a worried voice. He somewhat recognized it, then realized who it was.

"Charlie!" Newt jumped out of the bed and ran towards the door, swinging it open to reveal the girl. He pulled her into a tight hug, but she didn't hug back. Newt let go, stepping back. "What's wrong?"

Charlie shook her head. Newt looked down, to see her leg wrapped up from her waist down. Her arm was bruised and her eyes started to tear up.

"Charlie! What is wrong!?" Newt shook her, as she snuggled her head onto his shoulder. "What did they do?!" Newt pulled her into his room, and he quickly shut the door, locking it from the inside.

Charlie suddenly stopped crying, and backed away from Newt. She couldn't see him, and he couldn't see her. "Newt, I need to tell you something before someone barges in and takes me."

She found his shoulders, and put her hands on them, like a proud mother would. "O-okay, wh-what is it?" Newt stuttered.

"You're immu-" Just as she had said, someone knocked down the door, and swiped away Charlie before she could finish. Newt tried to reach for her, but it was no use. She was gone, and Newt had nothing to do about it.

The door was left open, being a perfect opportunity to escape.

Delilah scanned the screens as quickly as she could, then turned the alarms off. "So, I've got good news and I've got bad news. Which do you want to hear first?" Delilah questioned, turning to Thomas.

At this Thomas relaxed, if there was good news, it can't be that bad. "I think I want the good news." Thomas told her, not sure if he was ready for the bad news.

"Ok, the cameras saw both Newt and the rest of the Gladers. They're all heading for the store, Newt from one direction, everyone else from the other, although they're spread out." Delilah told Thomas as she scanned the screens once more.

"Charlie?" Thomas asked gently, not knowing how Delilah would react. She remained calm so Thomas hoped that maybe Charlie had been found as well.

"I don't see her yet." Delilah also hoped that Charlie wouldn't be far behind Newt sense they were together.

"I'm sure she'll be ok. Was that the bad news?" Thomas wondered, secretly hoping it was, because as bad of a person that made him, that wouldn't be the worse news in the world.

"No, not quite." Delilah was still watching the screens closely, trying to track something.

"What is it then?" Thomas asked, urgency filling his voice.

"Cranks, a lot of them too." Delilah responded without looking up.

"Where are they?" Thomas fired back, trying to figure out the screens himself.

"They all heading our way!" Delilah finally looked up from the screen, looking on the verge of panicking.

The two gathered their things and started to sprint off to another direction. As they would pass a door, Delilah would quickly type in a code, and it would shut automatically. They went through a series of 5 doors, when finally, they were outside.

Delilah stopped, panting. Thomas was breathing heavily, trying to catch his breath. "Do you do this everyday?" he asked out of breath.

"Practically, cranks don't usually get inside though. I'm pretty sure Abby was the one that didn't close the hatch from where she came out of. What an idiot." Delilah started to retie her shoe.

"Heard that." Delilah was startled by the presence of the Abby, who was leaning against a broken car.
