Chapter 52: Try.
Elvie and I were having fun icing --and me occasionally tasting it, making her laugh and looked at me in amusement-- the cake we (or she, because I only helped when it's icing time) baked together. We started applying some finishing touch, but it was cut short when we suddenly heard a crashing sound at the second floor.
We both looked at one another in confusion, then heard someone running downstairs. We waited and saw Copper pale as white in the last step.
Elvie wiped her hands before going to his side. She asked him what's wrong and what happened. But he only looked at her in fear then at me and whispered,
"Nickel."Upon hearing that, I didn't think twice. I already ran out of their house and quickly searched for Nickel's scent.
Found her.
But not just that.
There were other scents around the pack, and they're too many.
But I know this one scent the most.
I ran as fast as I could and I reached them just in time. I stopped in my track and called Nickel before he can grab her by the neck.
So I was right with the scent.
They both looked at me, but I was only looking at the scared young girl who's paler than his father earlier.
"Nickel." I called her again, tilting my head towards their pack's direction, motioning for her to follow me.She's frozen in her spot and was too afraid to even look at the guy beside her. Getting impatient, I started walking back towards their house after I called her one last time when she still didn't make a move.
"Don't make me wait for that ice cream." I seriously commanded in a cool tone, then I heard footsteps following me. One was like running for her life, and the other one, I don't care.
When we reached their borderline, the White Moon pack looks like they're ready to attack without any second thoughts, and was only waiting for him to enter their territory so they could attack him. But I raise a hand, signaling for them to stop. And I felt so relieved when they followed me without hesitation.
Reaching their house, I went straight to the kitchen where Elvie and Copper was waiting. They looked at me then stood up quickly and meet their daughter halfway in the living room when they saw her behind me. They tightly hugged and comforted Nickel who's crying now. Then Copper angrily looked at the guy, who's now leaning against a wall with his arms crossed in his chest. He looked back at Copper without any emotion, and despite being a pack leader and his anger as a father who's daughter almost got hurt, you can sense that Copper felt uneasy and slightly backed down because of the power radiating off of the guy.
Nickel then slowly approached me, giving me a bag containing an ice cream tub. I saw her trembling hands so I took the bag and held her hand, guiding her to the kitchen where no one can see us. I put the tub inside the freezer then faced her. She's about to cry and say something but I cut her off. "Aw, you're such a lifesaver!" I suddenly hugged her, making her confused. I know what's on her mind, that she's freaking afraid yet thankful that I saved her, not the other way around. To ease her mind, I mind linked her that it's fine, I'm not mad and I'm not going to let anything happen to her. I just don't want to get anywhere near him so I didn't get close to her earlier. She hugged back tightly and cried that she's very thankful I was there.
What a perfect moment we have here. Until someone chose to ruin it by speaking, "Let's go home."
I rolled my eyes and held Nickel by my side, who's shaking when we passed by in front of him. I ignored him and made our way to her parents.
