"I'm gonna marry you one day."
"I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you."
"We're gonna be happy. Together."
All those words seemed like empty promises at the time they were delivered, giving both boys a false sense of hope for whatever future they were to form together.
But now, that all seemed to be proved false as Kiibo stood at the altar, continuously fixing his black tux, adjusting his hair and straightening his tie. He was beyond nervous.
This wasn't happening,
No way.
Usually whenever he gets to this part in his dreams, he wakes up before getting a glimpse of his fiancée.
-------------
Kiibo beat Ouma to the proposal, popping the question not long after their relationship began. Of course, both of them were young and naive at the time. But, no matter what happened, they always promised to start a new with life together.
Over time, they matured along with their relationship, Kiibo finally beginning to think that maybe,
Just maybe,
This was it.
Ouma was the one.
His soulmate, as cheesy as it sounds.
Even in the small amount of time they had to get to know one another, the robot already found himself experiencing new emotions while in the dictator's presence.
Confused, he consulted his friends for advice.
The conclusion being that he had a crush.
'Crush' wasn't even an appropriate word for the situation.
He was in love.
Kiibo had fallen hopelessly in love with the one and only, Kokichi Ouma.
Who would've thought?
----------------
His fidgeting came to a halt as a reassuring hand was placed on his shoulder. Turning, Kiibo was met with the sight of Saihara smiling at him nervously. Of course, he was the best man. He was dear to the couple.
"You've got this," he nodded, clapping the groom on the back once more before pulling away.
Kiibo breathed out a sigh of relief, giving Saihara a thankful smile before turning to face the altar once more.
Once the music started playing and everyone began to stand, Kiibo knew that this was it.
This was the moment he had longed for years.
He looked back at the detective, who gave him a discrete thumbs up.
"You got this," he repeated to himself, readying to turn around.
With one last inhale, Kiibo turned, eyes widening at the sight before him.
There Ouma stood, his white suit contrasting with the lilac that was worn by the bridesmaids. They stood aside, allowing the groom to take his place opposite Kiibo, who was still in complete awe.
The shorter boy wore a smirk as the taller one's mouth was still agape.
"Hey." Ouma smiled, taking his lover's hands in his own.
"Y-You look..a-amazing.. You always do, but.. wow.." Kiibo breathed out, taking in his appearance once more.
Ouma laughed, his nerves slowly getting the best of him.
It was then the pastor began to speak, silencing any other awkward mumbles to utter from either male's mouth.
"Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to witness the union of Kiibo and Kokichi Ouma in holy matrimony, which is an honorable estate, that is not to be entered into unadvisedly or lightly, but reverently and soberly..."
------------------
Both of the males were solely focused on one another, standing in silence as their turn to speak came.
Kiibo was the first to talk.
"I, Kiibo, take you, Kokichi, to be my lawfully wedded husband, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do us part."
Ouma took a sharp breath, closing his eyes before copying.
"I, Kokichi, take you, Kiibo, to be my lawfully wedded husband, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do us part."
Kiibo took Ouma's hand in his own, a silver ring in the other. He looked at his partner lovingly, sliding the piece of jewellery onto his finger. Ouma copied, both speaking the following words:
"I give you this ring as a symbol of our vows, and with all that I am, and all that I have, I honor you. With this ring, I thee wed."
The whole room was silent, despite their being a massive crowd. Everyone was on the edge of their seats, waiting for the minister to utter those final words.
"By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you officially wed! You may now kiss."
Ouma was now full out crying as he stood on his tip toes, his small hands caressing Kiibo's cheeks, "I love you so much."
Kiibo's hands, resting on Ouma's hips, pulled him closer. "I love you more."
And with the applause of everyone they loved cheering them on, they shared their first kiss,
As husbands.
