It stared out innocently at first - both Kiibo and Ouma were inseparable when they first got together. They'd talk for hours on end, never seeming to get tired of the others company. But, as much as they wanted it to, good things could never last for long.
Over time and as their relationship progressed, the two began to get to know eachother more. Kiibo's more stern and hostile side, and Ouma's soft and bubbly one. In a way, they were polar opposites. As you could assume, this led to a few disagreements between them. They never lasted long, and usually ended with Kiibo apologising profusely no matter how many times Ouma insisted it was okay. He would unintentionally upset him.
As a robot, you can guess that human emotions were a hard conocept for him to wrap his head around. Even worse to convey and read others'.
Apart from their disagreements, Ouma liked to joke around, grinning and smiling as he did so. It was no secret that he likes to annoy Kiibo. As the two grew more comfortable with one another, the robot had no problem with having his own fun. He would pretend to be annoyed just to earn a chuckle or two from the other.
-------
"Shut up," he'd say, rolling his eyes.
Ouma would nod obediently.
---------
He thought everything was okay.
His boyfriend, on the other hand, thought differently. He grew sad every time he was told off. Relationships were supposed to be about caring for one another, right? Not trying to silence them.
Maybe Kiibo didn't care. The thought plagued Ouma's mind. It hurt him to think such a thing, much less believe it. Even though he was saddened, he refused to tell. He always had a habit for putting others happiness above his own. Even when tying to mask his emotions, it was obvious to Kiibo. Maybe not everyone else, but the mechanical male could read him like an open book. And after much pestering, Ouma gave in.
"It's just...you're really mean to me sometimes. You say things, you tell me to 'shut up', you call me stupid.." Ouma looked down, hands laced in his lap nervously. "Sometimes it feels like you..like you don't even care."
Kiibo inhaled sharply, what little remnants of a heart he had seeming to shatter inside him.
Was he really that bad of a person? He never truly meant to hurt anyone, especially the one he love doesn't most. He was at a loss for words, swallowing thickly in hopes that he could conjure up something to make everything okay. The truth is, he couldn't. He was never good with comforting people. He could never give Ouma the happiness he gave him. It made him feel useless.
For someone who's name was 'Kiibo', he felt beyond hopeless.
"I-I'm sorry.." he breathed out shakily, lips trembling slightly and voice seeming to waver.
"It's okay. It's fine," Ouma assured him, lying through his teeth. He always thought that if he said something was okay, eventually it would be. It hurt, but it's what he apparently deserved.
"N-No, it's not.. Stop always saying it is.." Kiibo didn't even notice the tears streaming down his cheeks until they dropped off his chin. "It's never okay. I make you unhappy. I make you sad.. That's not what a relationship should consist of."
"It's just..you make fun of me a lot. You diss the things I like. I even stopped liking them because of some of the things you said." Ouma paused, refusing to look up. He hated seeing Kiibo cry, much less listen to it.
"I'm sorry," was all Kiibo uttered, even if it was barely above a whisper. It may not have been much, but he always genuinely meant it.
He hated himself. He hated how he could've been so blind. He didn't blame Ouma for having become so distant.
