The bitter breeze blew heavily, rustling the branches of the now-bare trees. The sun was long gone, stars that littered the sky instead, taking its place. It was surprising, really - for it to be so dark at such an early hour in the evening. Then again, what else could you expect from a season as cold as winter?
The end of the year was nearing, a year that had seemed to start of terrible but gradually get better as the months went on. Him owing that to Ouma. They had met early on in the summer, starting off as friends, but their relationship gradually increased within the small amount of time they knew each other. Before the other could even comprehend what was happening, they eventually found themselves together, involved romantically. Everything seemed beyond great, until Kiibo had the misfortune of hearing that Ouma was only visiting the area for the summer, and at the end, he had to return home - which was, in fact, quite the distance from the other's humble abode. But, their love remained so strong that no distance could break it, it being able to stretch over the farthest of lengths. Even if they were miles apart, Kiibo still felt closer to Ouma than he ever had with anyone in his entire lifespan.
They kept in touch, messaging back and forth on the daily, video and voice calls were also a common thing shared between the couple.
'I miss you..' The robot would type most times, his artificial heart aching at the emptiness in his life without his boyfriend.
'I miss you too!! I wish you were here with me' The ding of his notifications only signalled that it was whom he was waiting for a reply from in the first place.
It physically pained for them to be apart, both wanting nothing more than to simply lie in the other's arms.
They always spoke about when they were able to meet again, how much it'd be and how long they'd have to wait. No matter how long it was, the only thing Kiibo wanted was to be with Ouma. That's all that mattered to him.

"What do you want for Christmas? Maybe I can mail you something!" The taller of the two held the camera up to his face, focusing on the features of the purple haired boy behind the screen. His expression went from happy to pure melancholy, which made Kiibo's nerves act up.
"I only want one thing, but even that's impossible.." Ouma sighed, looking down at his hands. Kiibo placed a hand on his computer, directly over the boy's face, as if he were caressing it. Of course it wasn't anywhere near comparable to the real thing, but it was good enough for now. As his thumb rubbed over the glass, he looked into the lens. "And what's that?"
The dictator let out another shaky breath, his eyes half lidded and glassy with tears.
"You."

Kiibo knew how much Ouma adored the idea of Christmas and all things festive. His face and mood would brighten immensely at the very mention of it.
And so, he set forward to make their first Christmas together the best one. It took a while, and a lot of hard work, but Kiibo eventually had gathered up enough cash to successfully pay a visit to Ouma on the special day.
He was set to leave on the 23rd of December, and due to arrive to his desired stop on the morning of the 24th, just in time. While all of this was being prepared, though, Ouma was absolutely oblivious to the plan as they kept the conversations as normal.
Kiibo looked over to the calendar, teal eyes scanning the dates. It was the 22nd today, and he was supposed to leave in the early hours of the next morning. And so, to prepare, he began to pack a small suitcase for his stay. He didn't need much, anyways, due to always wearing his suit of the occasional sweater. The rest of the room was reserved for gifts he had purchased for his lover, all neatly wrapped and tied of with a variety of pretty bows.
