We go back and gather as many loyal dauntless as we can. I don't know many people here but Tobias does, and so does Tori. She is the first person I try to find. When I do I quickly explain the plan, I tell her that myself and Tobias spoke to the Abnegation and that they need protection for at least two days while they prepare for some thing.
During the meeting we were asked to leave, my father led us out, he smiled as he held the door open and squeezed my shoulder as I passed. We don't know what they are planning, but apparently this is why the Erudite want to attack. They want to use the Dauntless as soldiers, but not just to over take the government, but to stop this event, what ever it is, from taking place.
I explain all of this to Tori as best as I can. She nods along and agrees to gather people.
We agree to meet by the train track at 10 tonight. Everyone is told to pack light and take only the essentials. Tobias talks to the kitchen staff and it is agreed that they will leave some food boxes open by the back door to the kitchen so everyone can take enough food with them. I don't really think that it is necessary, the Abnegation people will defiantly provide us with food, but I guess Tobias doesn't want to rely on them too heavily.
All of this is agreed before and during breakfast and the word is spread from there. People are advised to be careful who they tell. I am the only person within the Dauntless council to be involved in the plan and although we need numbers we also need to be cautious. The last thing we need is the wrong person finding out and informing the leaders.
After breakfast I go up to the main meeting room, presuming that that is where I am supposed to be. When I get there I find Eric standing outside.
"You're with me today." He says. Through the glass of the door I see that the meeting has already started.
"Are we not..."
"No." He interrupts, "They are in the middle of something that started before you got your job, it would take too long to catch you up on it all." He is obviously annoyed that he has to baby sit me rather than sit in on the meeting. I bet it has something to do with the war plans Tobias found on the Dauntless system. But I just shrug, I take one last glance through the window and see Peter sat there. So they have time to include him but not me? But I suppose he is just making notes.
I turn on my heals. "So where are we going?" I ask, trying to sound casual and ignoring the burning furnace of curiosity at the back of my mind.
"We're going to the fence." He walks a few steps ahead of me, shoulders straight, fists clenched. Why does he always seam so tense? Is he incapable of relaxing?
"Cool, any reason?" I don't want to spend the day with him, but if I have to I'd rather spend it talking a bit than in constant awkward silence.
"Honestly?" I nod but then realise he can't see, he is a head of me and is too busy making his way up the narrow side path of the pit to turn and look at me. "umm hum," it's the best I can do.
"I'm taking you there to give you something to do. You do have to learn about the fence at some point and we do a yearly review of the patrol roots, but you don't need to know that now. The last review was a month ago. This is all just a waist of time." His tone annoys me. Full of anger and spite. It's not my fault that he got landed with looking after me. I'm not so pleased with the arraignment myself but I'm not being like this about it.
"Have I done something to annoy you?" I ask. We have come to a stop by the door leading onto the roof. Eric brings his hand away from the door and let's it fall to his side with a sigh. He is capable of relaxing.
"No Tris you haven't. I'm sorry, it's just this meeting, we have been working towards it all year and now I'm missing out on the final stages of it all. I put a lot of work into it and I was so looking forward to putting the final pieces together." I manage to stop my self from rolling my eyes. But then something hits me. I made Eric apologise. I deserve a medal.
