We race down the stairs, leading the pack. We jump banisters, skip steps and sprint full out to get down as fast as we can. once were on the street we see people standing around, some look confused and others just look tired. Tobias nudges my shoulder and points towards Zeke, who seems to be the only person aware of that is going on. We run towards him.
"What's all this about?" Tobias asks him. Anger and exhaustion cloud his eyes.
"We spotted a large number of dauntless on the trains. Eric was with them, but they didn't get off here, I think they are headed to Erudite headquarters." He seems embarrassed by his mistake.
"So, a false alarm?" I ask. He nods. "Well, at least we know that they a 're working together. We need to get abnegation to speed things up, I don't know what is taking them so long." It's true, how can showing people a video take so long to organise, and if they want to show people won't they want more dauntless placed on the fence? What would happen if people tried to leave? But I can't ask them, they can't know that I know. Tobias springs back into action.
"Zeke, you're going to need to find two people you trust to take your spot in the security room. I'm going to call a meeting for the Abnegation leaders, this may have scared them into moving faster. You'll need to meet us there in fifteen minutes, bring Shauna with you, and Tori if you can find her." Tobias begins to walk of and without thinking I follow him. It's just the natural thing for me to do.
The alarm turns off, most of the Dauntless use it as a que to switch shifts, it's hard to tell who has been on nights and who has been sleeping, everyone looks exhausted.
We find Marcus coming out of the Hub door.
"You need to call a meeting." he turns on his heals and follows us. What is it about Tobias that makes everyone listen to him?
About 20 minutes later I find myself in a room full of Abnegation leaders, Tobias sits on my left, Zeke on my right and next to him are Tori and Shauna. It took some time for us to convince Marcus to let them in, but Tobias managed to argue that the Dauntless needed to be represented and that we could trust there people with anything. In the past I trusted Zeke to strap me to a harness then push me off a 100 story building the. I trusted Shauna to catch me at the bottom. For a time Tori was the only person who knew of my divergence, she kept me safe, risking her own job and possibly her life by lying for me. I can trust these people.
Discussion starts slowly, but they seem even less willing to talk with our new guests. Zeke let's out a large sigh after the third time they refuse to tell us out plans.
"Look"he says. He looks exhausted, large black bags hang under his eyes. "None of you could have missed that alarm so you know how close we were to an attack, as it happens the Dauntless we saw on the train were on there way to Erudite, I believe that they are now planning an attack from both sides, some competing in from Erudite headquarters and some from Dauntless, we won't be able to fight them, they outnumber us by at least one to three, and that's just the Dauntless, for all we know Erudite could attack with them, they are definetly the ones organising the attack. We are running out of time, we need you to move before they attack. The longer it takes the worse this will be. I understand that there is some information you need to share so share it now. You are out of time and options." The Abnegation shift awkwardly in there seats. It's my father that speaks out.
"We can't share the information. We are experiencing some technical difficulties, it has stalled the process." The other leaders give him sideways glances, Marcus' normally cool expression hardens to one slightly more similar to the one he wore in Tobias' fear landscape, but no one stops him. "There is a video that we need to send out to people, but it's blocked, it won't let us send it. originally we were going to gather people together to show them but in light of recent events we had to change our plans, it would be to dangerous. I understand that you have some skills with computers Tobias. If the rest of our council will agree to it I would like to ask your help to unblock the video so we are able to send it. There are several layers of code so any copy that is sent to another computer is unable to play the video."
