gaze drifting from mine

101 20 4

it's loud uptown
something i never realized with
you, leading me to
a fate i never wanted
it's too late to return.

the sky is grayer
then your eyes flicker with
emotions i never said
i hated, saying goodbye
to where we used to be.

a different house than
normal people don't live
like this, filled with sorrow
as the night approaches
the roof cries downpour mercy.

the light is blue
the streetlight contrasting
in glow and amber-washed rain
on my umbrella glowering above me
i'm drenched in the memories.

perhaps
when the sun returns
you'll be the cloud overhead.
