drifting across the seas

early in the morning
glory before you arise
to rub the sleep from your eyes
fix them on me
just this once.

almost sixteen, unprime
in your prime you stand
taller than i for once
in awhile
please hold my hand.

i wish the world was flat
as the europeans said, when in rome
atop the amphitheater you sit, watching
for i am torn to pieces, gather them
take me anywhere.

a world full of saltwater
are my tears, but you would think
with all the surplus i'd generously
cry fresh water, but i can't
as long as we're together.

perhaps
once i stop trying to erase you
i'll be alright.
