"It's party time!" Lena squealed as I opened the front door.
They decided to arrive an hour before Nate was supposed to come get us, so I wouldn't make any "questionable" fashion choices. I was going to be their own personal, life size, Barbie. Minus the blonde hair and the double D. I laid on my bed like a starfish while the ransacked my closet. They kept pulling out different arrangements of clothes that I never knew actually went together, it was kinda entertaining.
"Do you have any requests as to what you want to wear?" Rose asked as she looked at a skirt I'd only ever worn once.
"Pants." I replied. I wasn't big on skirts that were on the shorter side.
"But I skirt would look so cute on you! If you ju-" Lena began.
"Do you know how long it's been since I shaved my legs?" I grumbled.
Lena and Rose kept going through my closet trying to find a shirt that would "make me look hot" and would also go with my holey jeans. "Why do you seem so grumpy? Going to a party is part of your list, right? Rose asked.
"I'm grumpy because you two won't let me pick my own clothes."
"Be our guest then." The pair of them gestured to the closet.
I rolled off my bed and padded to the closet. They'd been looking at the stuff on the hanger, the good stuff was in the dresser. I pulled the top drawer out a little and thumbed through the shirts. Most of them had higher necklines and were probably the softest things ever. I grabbed four shirts and unfolded them on my bed. "You guys can help me pick from those." I said, pointing.
"But those are so conservative!" Lena whined.
"Two of them are crop tops!"
Just as I said that Mom and Dad opened my bedroom door. "Sloane, we're gonna head to Gramma's and tell what's going on." Mom said. I nodded and gave them each a hug before telling them to drive safe. They told us to have fun and be home by a reasonable hour, then they left.
Once the door was shut, Lena started examining the shirts like it was her duty. Imeadietly she tossed away the two normal length shirts aside, leaving just the crop tops. She tapped her chin and glanced at me, probably trying to size me up. She shifted her wait to one foot, then the other. "S, you're gonna have to try these on for me." She said, tossing one of the shirts at me. I changed quickly into the sage green crop top and looked in my mirror. Lena examined my reflection and took my hair out of it's pony tail. "Okay, try the other one on."
I grabbed the dark grey one and switch shirts. I had no idea what the difference between the two shirts were, they were just shirts. But Lena had an eye for this stuff. I swear she was gonna be a designer some day. Now Lena and Rose were looking me up and down. It was kinda starting to get creepy. "God damn! Which shirt am I wearing?" I finally said.
"The green one." They both replied.
Rose insisted on curling my hair, and Lena wanted to do my make up. I let them. I mean, why not? We brought a chair into the bathroom for me to sit and the bathroom soon turned into a salon. While they worked on me I noticed that Lena's phone was tilted so it's camera was right on us. I wondered if she was recording this. I asked them what high school parties were like, they responded with "You'll see."
Rose finished with my hair before Lena was done with my makeup. She just had my mascara, eyeshadow, and eyeliner. How could three things take so damn long? "Are you almost done?" I asked as she had me close my eyes. "Shhh, don't rush my masterpiece!"
